I have a chance to pick one of these up that runs and drives. is there alot of parts out there for these? im assuming the motor will need a rebuild soon any rebuild kits? any help would be appreciated as im brand new to th datsun world.

No sir, quite rare trucks. Whatever crosses over from a 521 will be a bit easier to find, though.



If you still had the stock engine, you'd be SOL. Luckily for you someone appears to have swapped in an L16 from a 521. Parts for that are very, very common. Same engine used in the 510, and similar to the engine in the 610, 710, 200SX, A10 (aka 510), etc.

well john you just made me breath a sigh of relief, my friend has a 64 and cannot find parts. if i get it ill be trading my 1989 toyota pickup 2wd for it. i will have to drive it 3 hours home, i sure hope it makes it. thanks again john. i searched the forum for anymore of these and couldnt find any, anyone have pics of theirs?

Very common problem, I'm afraid. But thankfully, swapping in an L16 isn't too difficult.

Pay extra close attention to the front turn signals (on the fenders behind the bumper), and condition of the grill and headlight surrounds. Those are the only external parts that are very difficult to find.

But, huge upside with this truck is it's the most prized of all the 5-seires trucks, the early 520 with the single headlight grill.

Cool truck. Sounds like your drive home will be as crazy as mine was with my corolla. I just happened to be looking at these trucks.
