i recall a while back we were discussing steering slop reduction by adjusting the steering box, i wanted to see if anyone confirmed the process of adjusting that steering box? I'm not sure if the process would be similar between the Z and the KGC10?
Well, Zs don't have a steering box, they are rack and pinion.
The Skyline has a worm gear steering box, and the adjustment procedure is pretty straightforward. On the top of the steering box you'll see a big nut, with what looks like a slot for a screwdriver on the "bolt" that it's on. You simply loosen that nut, use a screwdriver to tighten that "bolt" down a bit, then tighten up the nut. Not unlike adjusting rocker arms on the engine, there needs to be a tiny bit of slack in it or it will increase wear on the steering box.
This is a steering box from a 1200, but you get the idea...
