Umm..what? help with an oddball R30 Wagon

Hi all,

Looking at buying an R30 wagon (i miss my sedan too much and i need a car!) Looking around I've found an..interesting... example.

1986 is the year of manufacture.. that's odd I thought they stopped making them in 85!
Z18 motor. Also strange as officially they changed to the CA18 in 1983
Z18717006X is the engine serial.. X? there was no letter at the end of my older R30's Z18 engine serial. (Z18830975)
UPJR30026216 is the chassis code btw, if anyone could translate it to meaningful data?

This car has confused me and I haven't even had a look at it yet, found it on an online auction!

is it New Zealand new? it could have been built in Japan a few years before being sold in NZ

It was imported in 1991 according to NZ records

So no ideas as to why there's an X in the engine code, or why they had a Z18 in such a late R30?

ok ok, dont trust the date on the rego tag. Most of the time they are out a few years. My hr30 coupe is tagged as a 85 but she is actaully a 82
