My 71' SR20VE 510

I have the car posted around on other forums but I never got around to posting here so I'll just post everything, including the updates, in my first post. I just had it re-tuned and it put down 220/hp and 164/tq.

Current mods -

Motor and go stuff

S14 SR20DE block with SR20VE NEO VVL head (11:1)
R&D Factory high capacity oil pan
Custom Danstoy intake manifold, AE111 ITB’s and T3 velocity stacks
One off DGR equal length stainless 4-1 header
Custom DGR aluminum radiator with 12" electric fan
RCI aluminum overflow tank
LS7 coilpacks
2.5" exhaust with stainless Magnaflow muffler
S14 5spd with short shifter
Modified S14 driveshaft
4:38 JDM Subaru LSD
RCI aluminum 10 gallon fuel cell with walbro pump

Electronics

Haltech E6X EMS
Custom S14 wiring harness
Greddy oil pressure, fuel pressure and water temp gauge
Prosport 80mm tachometer
AEM UEGO wideband

Suspension

MADDAT engine mount kit with 1" front swaybar

First updates -

Resprayed the door panels from the nasty original blue to black

Scrapped and recoated the fender wells

Low oil pan is low

Just finished these updates last week -

Prosport 80mm tach
matching Greddy fuel gauge
tripple gauge pod
AEM UEGO wideband gauge
orange LED bulbs to replace the stock speedo bulbs
mounted a fire extinguisher because you never know.

Header - welded two o2 sensor bungs, had it performance coated from Polydyn and replaced the stock gasket with an S15 7 layer gasket
a new set of LS7 coil packs
I had the injectors cleaned, flowed and balanced
-8 AN lines and fittings from valve cover to the catch can
I had the lower intake runners, velocity stacks and the catch can chromed
I tapped the lower runners for vacuum lines and ran them to a vacuum distribution block --> to MAP sensor
I had the valve cover and strut bar ends powdercoated a custom mix (pics do the color no justice)
Transmission and LSD flushed and filled with Amsoil
brakes and clutch bled and filled with ATE super blue racing fluid

!! Is this how the car was delivered to you?? Looks like the car was well taken car of.

Constructive criticism: I honestly have reserves about the battery placement though. Although, Optima makes their batteries sealed, they also recommend that it's best that it be place in a separate sealed box of it's own due to possible fumes that may escape. Just a risk I personally wouldn't take.

Painting those interior door panels and adding the carpet was an awesome move. I hope that my 510 will eventually come out looking this nice. I still have a long way to go on my project.

What are the wheel specs btw?

I don't mean to drill you but that's a nicely done up 510.

Not quite. Individual throttle bodies. Still fuel injected but uses the same principal as twin dual throat carbs like dcoe webers or Dellorto dhla's etc which is one lot of mixed fuel and air per cylinder.
Best of both worlds really when you think about it.

In saying that, I think there are some SR20's getting about with carbs, there's no reason why it cant be done :mrgreen:

I don't mean to drill you but that's a nicely done up 510.

It came with the motor and such already but it's taken a lot it to get it where it is now. As far as the body the car is rust free aside from what surface rust you can see. She's a little rough on the panels and paint but in great condition otherwise. I actually really dig the patina roughed up original look though.

I appreciate the battery concern, I do need to get a sealed box but I just haven't gotten around to finding one.

The wheels are 14x7 -9 w/ 185/55/14's all around. GL with your project.

Me either! I've yet to ever rev it past 5K since I didn't really trust the old tune, and I've only driven once to work since I got it back with the retune. It will be the first time I rev it to 8K and I bet that motor is going to just scream :tu:

In cab filming is all I'm going to do, not my camera so I don't want to take a chance of it falling off mounted outside.

Norcal510 - Yeah, I watched those vids numerous times before buying the car. Loved everything about it!

So I borrowed my buddies gopro for a day since I've had a lot of request to hear the VVL / ITB combo. Hopefully I can get more footage soon since I was only able to get a couple of pulls in.
