My brain might be broken. In order to put together the exact down payment I want as soon as the FR-S comes out, part of my plan was . . . to go out and buy an old car? It all makes sense in my head, as the majority of my down payment will come from selling my WRX... anyway I'm now the proud owner of what seems to be a pretty rare combination: a 260Z 2+2 with a 5-speed. It's running rough and the brake pedal goes almost to the floor without doing much, so I'll be working on it this weekend to try to get it on the road ASAP. Some rust, but pretty solid for an old Datsun. I'm digging the color combo--light blue over white.

the 2+ 2 with 5 speeds isnt rare at all, all the 260's over here are 2 + 2 with 5 speeds
Maybe thats different on your side of the ocean.

The five speed wasn't technically offered until 1977 in the US (which is a 280z here), so previous owner was just super cool and swapped one in I guess

(IIRC, I believe the US five speed box is different from the JDM/ROW box anyway, though I don't know the specifics... I'll take any of them to replace my four speed )

Looks like an early bumper car, which is nice... I envy people with the white/tan interiors, need pics of that, hope it's held up well.

I've always said I'm glad that they made the 2+2s... I've always said I'm glad they didn't only make 2+2s The aspect where the 2+2 looks best to me has always been straight on from the back; looks a little wider and more angular, and has the little gills in the panel.

Make something cool from it.
