Laurel C31 crank shaft front screw

Hi mates!

I need to change the timing chain of my 1984 C31 Laurels L24S engine. Therefore I have to remove the front engine cover. To undo it, I have to remove the crank shaft pulley first. It ist held by the screw that is bolted in the crank shafts front end and also holds the oil pump pinion and the timing chain sprocket.
I think, to unscrew it I have to turn it counter clockwise. But of course, instead of undoing the screw, I turn over the engine the wrong way.
I also have tried to put the manual transmission into first gear and block the wheels, but then it feels like the clutch is slipping.

Does anyone have a tip, how I can undo this screw or how I can stop the engine from turning?

Hi!

I'm still trying. I thought an impact wrench might work, but sadly i dont have one.
So stop getting randy about showing each other pictures of show room fresh datsuns and help me.
I don't believe nobody of you I-shoehorn-a-skyline-engine-in-my-cherry guys would know what to do!

if you put it in any gear and pull the handbrake it has to come off.
maybe you have to take a n airwrench to get it off, works for me every time.

I'm just seeing this, but impact gun is usually the only way I've gotten those unstuck before. It may also help to spray it down with WD-40/PB Blaster/Break free (or whatever you have available where you are) several times, letting it sit for awhile inbetween sprays. Good luck!

what u tryed to remove mine was any penetreating spray and impact gun and that didnt quit work so i put a torch to it to heat it up a bit and work it with the impact gun (or a braker bar with a added bar to extend the braker bar for more levrage ) and out it when

.. ps dont over heat the bolt to the point wher it gets red just hot..

stick it in gear, use a half inch bar with a big pole over it and pull

yes huge breaker bars do work well, but impact is better haha. if you dont have access to an air compressor, you can also possibly borrow/rent an electric impact gun?
