I decided to check my valve clearances today to hopefully reduce the sewing machine noise in my l20b. Once I got the camcover off and started turning the motor over I noticed the fuel pump arm wasn't riding on the fuel pump eccentric, it was loose, so the arm could move left and right, and it did just that, wearing a chunk of metal out of the front of my cam gear, will be switchin to an electric tommorow. I am sure it was recently swapped out for an aftermarket one but there are no receipts to be found in the pile o'maintenance records Has anyone ran an electric on these before, if so anything I should look for in particular and should i use a fuel pressure regulator?

did you have the spacer insulator installed?

It's usually minimal fuss.

FYI, the block-off plate for a big block Chevy fits right onto an L-series head.



Depends on the pump, carbs, engine, etc.

Assuming stock-ish L20b and 2-barrel carb, if you use the low pressure Holley/Facet pump you won't need a regulator.

FYI, these types of pumps work better as "pushers" than "pullers", so try to mount it low at the rear of the car.
