I haven't got it home yet but just picked up this 1981 Datsun 210

Needs a stater but I got it cheap and the body is really solid. Interior is decent - that door panel is in the back seat. Apparently has a new clutch too. Not sure on the exact plans yet except initially start by getting is roadworthy.

Cool.
I'd love to have a 2-door sedan 210/B310.
Never seen one over here!

Good news, bad news.

The seller told me it had a new clutch - I discovered it needed a new clutch - big difference! I got the starter going and engine running but it was not drivable. Getting towed home. Tow cost me $60 and car cost me $150 so I'm ironically $210 into it.

Took a few shots waiting for the tow truck

Dusty interior

Mighty A-series four cylinder engine in 1981 Datsun 210. Looks to be a 1.2L so the smallest version - bummer. The engine is derived from the old BMC A-series (think MG Midget, Morris Minor, Mini, etc). Needs a good clean but oil is clean.

Got it home.

cleaned the inside

Image

Cleaned out the trunk – pretty much rust free with just a hint of surface rust in the spare wheel well.

Image

The rear seat was loose so I thought what the heck I’ll clean it up a bit. Years of dirt.

A few minor things done on my newly acquired Datsun 210.

Did a quick initial clean on the engine way. Quite a difference already.

Image

Driver’s door panel back on, I just need to figure out the proper way to get the winder clip back on.

Image

Silly door buzzer had its sensor disconnected – must have loosened at some point. So it dinged all the time. Was driving me crazy. Had to remove the glove box to get at it. I fixed it then thought what the hell am I doing and disconnected the whole thing. No more bell ever!

Nice score. Funny how those cars clean up really nice. $150 bux!!! That's an awesome deal. Projects usually have the responsibility of throwing money into it though so that's to be expected. Awesome find and great job of cleaning it up so far.

I foresee rims that are 10 times more expensive than the cost of the car.

Very clean and a 2-door, what more could you want? 8) What you got planned for it?

Seeing this thread reminds me that I have to get a camera and take some shots of my 210.

Great looking project you have there. I'm a bit embarrassed to say I didn't realize the A12 was derived from the BMC A-series engine. You could try Moss Motors for speed parts.

Ummm... no. :P

While it's a similar design, it doesn't share one single part. In fact, they are just different enough I wouldn't even call them similar. The older E1/E10 Nissan engine is MUCH closer to the BMC A-series.

Speed parts are not a problem. You can get anything you want for an A-series to make it perform better, brand new off-the-shelf. :tu:

If it's a 4spd, those should be easy to find. :tu:

And this could also be a good time to go ahead and upgrade to a 5spd. 8)

You and me both, brother. I wish I never sold my yellow one, to a buddy, for only $15. :(
