It has been a while since i've been working on my car last. i've worked a bit on my other projects and had a lot of other stuff to do...

But yesterday it al started off again. called mr. Petitjean to get the number from the bodyshop because they haven't called me yet, so i will call them myself next week.
Then i decided to get a few things done today - Started of with the disassambly of the hatch:
first removed the damper and the chrome stuff:
Image

the i removed the hatch glass:
Image

finally out:
Image

Image

and last but not least the locking mechanism:
Image

second big project for today was to remove the broken driver side window.. or what's left of it :)
Image

removed window with bracket. or what at least once was a window:
Image

complete window mechanism removed:
Image

and door without anything :)
Image

now next big step will be to do the same stuff on the passenger side window, so it's ready for a bit new paint..
also i'll call th e bodyshop to have them take a look on the car and make a cost estimate, and probably pick up the shell so it can be restored.
Currently im planning a lot uf stuff and im in the state of ordering those "secret parts" from japan once again :)
and last but not least im working on the idea of a new blog project that will inclode all my three projects and blogs into one site. but still needs a lot of work.

and finally i'll go and pick up my EK9 from it's winter home today and bring it back on the streets, will get a bit JDM stuff soon too :)

have a nice weekend - Nils

Wow, i know progress has really slowed down alot, but i still have progress:
1) the car related stuff:
- Found time today and called up the guy from the body shop. sadly they're very busy at the moment, but he'll get back to me soon again to check the car and pick it up for the bodywork and painting.
Need to talk a lot about the do's and don'ts first but im acutally happy i found someone who is experienced with the olde Z's and will do the work in some oldschool metal artwork :D

2) the blog related stuff:
- As i didn't really know i have followers on this blog i didn't really check for comments and followers, but as i found out today - i have a lot of followers, this and my EK9 blog are in the blogroll of some really cool sites i didn't know until i checked (and allowed) all the comments today - THANKS A LOT GUYS! :D
- as a little thank you i will allow you a little preview to my upcoming blog-project im working on. this one will include my two old blogs and some other stuff, so in a few weeks or so my old blogs are discontiuned. Of course i'll update the blogroll with the cool guys who made some comments in this blog here and i'll have to take a few shots from my car to incolde in the header. still needs a lot of work, but here you can get a little glimpse of how it will look:
http://www.jdmjunkies.ch/wordpress/
This new blog will soon be avialeble under my old company's name www.JDMjunkies.ch but i'll give you a notice here as soon as it's done :D

thanks a lot to all the followers and for the nice comments, and i'll give my best to get some work done again soon :)

Thought it's time to do some work on the ol' lady again, but as there isn't really much to do at the moment i decided to give the engine a quick cleanup :)

1) that's how it started off, complete with 15 year old greasy dust and dirt..
Image

2) Removed the water-hoses first which where really crappy...
Image

that's how it looked inside the adaptor piece - really nasty...
Image

3) Then i removed the drain plug and got some old oil out the block:
Image

4) decided to remove a few brackets and cables from the head - Before:
Image

and removed:
Image

5) Now i felt it's time to give it a cleanup:
sprayed the whole engine with "engine cleaner":
Image

6) Scratched of some old gasket leftover :)
Image

7) Removed the oil filter:
Image

8) And that's how i ended up today:
Image

looks really shiny now - but that red and blue color will be removed anyway in near future..

btw: my Project blog has moved to http://www.JDMjunkies.ch now, get all the pictures and information of my 240Z, EK9 and EJ9 project there :)

Yeah nothing big today, as i had some guys walking by and talking to me all the time so i wasn't really too sucessfull (that's the problem when you have your garage right at the mainstreet :P)

1) Started with removing a few clips from the hatch:
Image

2) Then removed the trunk lock:
Image

3) next i removed some rubber-stuff from the passenger side door:
Image

4) and that window-roller thingy:
Image

5) that's how the door looks now:
Image

6) removed some electrical stuff (no idea what this exactly is..) from the engine:
Image

7) and continued cleaning up the engine and that's how it looks now :)
Image

Oh and TNT-tracking just lets me know that a big Package shipped from Koto-Ku, Tokyo should arrive here on monday.. can't wait to show you what i ordered :D

whoohow :) After about 6 weeks of waiting the big Package from Japan finally arrived here.. this is what i found in front of my door today:
Image

The Delivery contains the big Part seen above (made by http://www.saito-rollcage.co.jp/ from the Saitama Prefecture in Japan, more on that soon :D)
and two smaller Packages.
One containing a beautiful Leather Shift knob with a black Z-emblem and is made by famous Kameari Engine works from Yashio City, Japan:
Image

And the Second Package containing a set of Heater valves from Garage Iwasa for my friend (and well known Honda S800 restorer) Sven:

Thanks mate :)
well im a Die-hard JDM-fanatic so every part coming into this project will be made in Japan :D and btw: living in switzerland it's not too easy to find a company making custom rollcages for a 1972 Datsun :)
So i had to decide between Cusco and Saito and well - i like to get that stuff no one else outside japan has - so that was why i bought this - just because of my personal favor :)

and if you wonder why i add a rollcage - don't think i'll go racing with this car, but i think it's nevery wrong to add a bit of safety and stability to such an old chassis ;-)

EDIT: Oh and according to some gyus in the Ratsun forums the electrical thingy from my last post above is a 2-way oil-pressure sensor :)

After recceiving the Rollcage yesterday, i just could'nt hold back to have a look on it :)
1) Started off with unrwapping all the parts (about 30min...)
Image

2) finally all parts unwrapped:
Image

3) had to figure out how the parts fit together so i made a little lay-out:
Image

4) Here you see the manufacturer. I'm really impressed of the quality japanese manufacturer make on the parts.
Image

5) after that i had to "test-build" it with a few zipties :)
Image

6) And of course i had to do a little "test-drive" :D Love my new Chromoly Cage :)

Yeah i know it's not too interesting to see a lot of posts about how i unbolt a few screws from the door. but at the end it's just those small things that need a lot of attention make the difference between a cheap-fast and a quality build. I've seen the "http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/desert-car-kings/s" tv-show now a few times and i have to say the cars look great, but at the end it's still just a cheap and fast restoration and all the small things were left untouched :)

Now to the project:
1) Started off with removing the drivers side door handle (Shot from inside)
Image

Removed:
Image

2) removed the locking mechanism:
Image

and the Inner door handle:
Image

3) here you see the complette handle/locking/unlocking hardware removed - it's quite dirty so that might be the reason why it didn't vork wery well..
Image

4) Finally a completely stripped drivers side door :)
Image

5) had some time left, so i started to remove the window handle on the co-driver's side:
Image

6) And that rubber weather-sealing you've seen on the drivers side a few posts ago too..
Image

that's it - hope i'll be able to post another update soon :)

Here we go, had pretty fast and good progress today so i managed to completely strip down a full passenger side door in about an hour - great :)

1) started with removing that chrome weather seal-thingy:
Image

Removed:
Image

2) removed some window-glass brackets:
Image

3) so i was able to remove the glass and top chrome-frame:
Image

4) Removed all the other screws, bolts, brackets and things:
Image

5) as well as the passenger side door lock mechanism:
Image

6) this is how the door looked at the end:
Image

7) And because it has been a while since i showed a shot of the car, here we go: :D
Image

Tomorrow i'll head over to the big swiss "Japanese old- and youngtimer meeting" which is part of the huge http://www.oldtimermesse.ch/. so if someone is there, let me know. I'll take my camera with me and hopefully spot a few nice cars :)
