The British Borg Warner M35 automatic transmission was used in the RL411 and Early 510 sedans and wagons. Trying to get repair and maintenance parts is a real PITA! No one will even bother to try to find the proper kits. Solution? This identical transmission was used in the1974 Volvo 144 2.0 liter L4! Parts and soft or soft plus hard parts maintenance and complete overhaul kits are still available for our "antique" British Borg Warner automatic transmissions if you "cheat" a little and call yourself a Volvo of the right generation. I have just bought a "soft parts" kit and for future use a "hard plus soft parts" kit using the Volvo designation. They are spot on! Get them while these kits are still available, 40 years from now you may wish you had one on the shelf!

Manufacturers and their part numbers follow.

Pan Gasket Mfg is Saginaw, partnumber G69-P. Sold by APS Supply Inc. Houston TX. No bar code.

Soft Parts Kit Mfg is ATP Professional Auto Parts. 1300 W Pratt Boulevard, Elk Grove Village Il 60007-5711. http://www.atp-inc.com. Part Number RGS-7 AT Overhaul Kit. Bar code (7) 40993 01527 (7).

Hard Parts Kit MFG is same as above so all info except partnumber and bar code are the same.

Part number RM-5 AT Master Repair Kit 44E. Bar code (7) 40993 01537 (6).

Suggestion, since JCWhitney offers free shipping and almost always has 10% or more discounts in the intro to their parts lists, check them out also for possible lower total overall costs.

I messaged the manufacturer of the "complete" RM5 rebuild kit re the absence of the front and rear bands in the "complete" rebuild kit. The reply was "None of our kits include the bands. If the friction material on the bands is still in good condition they can be reused. We no longer have the bands available for this transmission." so I guess they must indeed be made from "Eternium". My kits are "on the shelf" pending any need in the next 40 years.
