Hey gang,

Thought I'd post a pic of this up for you! As usual a good friend and I out negotiating on one piece on Japanese memorabilia for the museum and come home with something completely different!

This was original dealer board from a Datsun garage from the early 60's featuring the Bluebird 320 range. Unusual to see something from a Australian dealer that early entirely in Japanese script. Stands nearly 5 feet tall with the frame made from silky oak, nearly a two person job to carry it. New piece of glass and a polish will be good as new. Enjoy, worth the 3 hour drive we think!

Very cool! I would love to have a garage full of this stuff.

I'm moving it to the Datsun Garage unless we want to make it a general Japanese dealer memorabilia thread.

To be honest, haven't looked at them properly yet. I just chucked them in the factory when we got back.....
I heard about them, rang the guy (who is a top bloke and into vintage motorbikes) and after a couple weeks, i had a bit of time spare to grab them - they were a near on 5 hour drive away. Literally woke up that morning, figured if i didn't go grab them someone else would. Turns out after he'd agreed to sell them to me he got half a dozen phone calls from others.. you snooze you lose.

If they are salvageable to work, then yes, I'd love to have it hanging up (i'd prob mount it to a bracket off the wall rather than shove a pole in the floor.
Also have a 1970's BP dealer sign, and tons of big old Winfield and peter Jackson stuff.

wow!

They just pulled some old signage down off a defunct used car lot in town here, which must have been a Datsun dealer at some point as behind the old sign is a massive painted Datsun logo.

Score Tim, I can't wait to see this museum mate! I haven't been to Queensland since 1990, but I'll be up for a look when you're ready.

Cheers,
Duane

Mate, you're welcome anytime!! 20 years since any banana bending time, that's a decent break!!

Scored a Mitsubishi Colt 1000 sedan dealer poster as well at the time that I'll get properly mounted.

rather than start another thread, i dragged this one up.

Found myself another couple of signs......... they are in really good condition. probably repo's and not originals, but certainly not new at any rate.

Are they the ones that were on ebay recently GBG?

Couldn't tell if they were repos or not, saw them go round a few times and get cheaper so I thought they might not be 100% originals.

The datsun and nissan -yes. I got them from him not through ebay for considerably less.
The red in the Nissan is faded, so if they are repro's, they are certainly not recent ones.

The BP one we got from a Shannons Auction about a year ago.

Yesterday and old Datsun Dealership sign arrived that I had bought from a seller cross country. Its a lot bigger (4' x 6') than I had imagined. The seller said he bought it off someone who had kept it after the dealership closed. Its two sided & comes complete with the frame. Will post more pictures once I get it out of the crate.
