niiice! I had a feeling you'd be watching this thread... admittedly, I've been pretty lame at keeping up with pics... I just feel it's not worth looking at till it's bit more presentable!... and yea, I'm gonna wok in some more red!

Admittedly I'm not a huge fan of red, but I like the way it breaks up the silver and black on this car. Very sexy.

so yes, next order of business is definitely suspension mods. lower. a lot lower. and I've been debating the approach for aero parts. I want a front lip (air-dam, chin-spoiler... whatever)... as well as a small tasteful lip on the trunk lid. (not a "WING!").. these parts are eluding me. I may make FRP one-offs. damn it. this thing was supposed to be cheap.

(also received my new shift lever handle in the mail as well! Sapporo Christmas morning!)

Wow! That is stunning. To think that this car was brought from the graveyard in almost this condition. Add some elbow grease, and a sexy set of wheels, and there it is. Just amazing to look at after seeing it sitting sans wheels on the ground at P'n'P. Can't wait to see it with a slammed suspension.

couldn't stand to look at the thing with so much fender gap... I'll be building up a set of coilovers, and by the looks of it, bumpsteer spacers, and perhaps custom trailing arms, along with clearancing some of the rear sheet metal to accommodate a deeper drop in the rear... but until then? back to the roots. three hours start to finish, disassembled the front struts, cut upper two coils off, modded the bumpstop and dust cover, reinstalled. dropped out the rear shocks and coils, severed two more coils out back as well as trimming the bump stops, reinstalled. test drive proved to feel great!

this is how the car should have looked right from the factory:

I really need to see this car (actually more like all the cars at the shop) sometime. I wish I knew you were rollin' downtown in the new hotness, I would have come to take a closer look at this new addition.

I'm loving it Hector!
That thing is in supreme condition and you've done one hell of a job bringing it back!

Looking forward to more pictures ;D

thanks for the encouragement from all!

...and Nakazoto, I'm really diggin your recently acquired field-find Kei-360! I would love to speak with you about importing bits and pieces! (...and maybe more!) checked out the projects on your site...looks like you're deep up in it!

...by the way, I just realized, my website address was not in my signature, so I've added it! please check it out...along with this pic I shot the other day in the shop (KA24DE/5-speed swap mitsu-van, and the 'little buddy' 1200 coupe!)

Thanks to Edwallo's flickr account for providing a stunning image of what this '83 Sapporo could have looked like on the showroom floor 27 years ago. Nice comparison to judge the condition it is currently in as well.

Sorry for the OT, but are those flares on the 1200 the ones that CDM sells? Anyone chance you could email me some bigger pics of that car?

sidetracked yes...but a good question! (simply because I'm stumped as to where I got them...now about four years ago) those flares are truthfully of quite shoddy construction, and fit poorly. the 1200 was a wham-bam fun driver when I put it together, and I've always wanted to tear it back down and strengthen the flares with more glass on the mounting lip, and smooth out the inconsistent fitment to the body... so.. that said.. Yes, I ordered them from Australia. where exactly, I cannot remember.

(there's a side-profile-while-driving pic of it under "hectors rides' on my website!)

Yes, but it's really small. :P

They look like the one from CDM to me, but I can't seem to find anyone who has actually used the CDM flares, so I thought I'd ask...

Classic Datsun Motorsports flares:
