Anyone got any EXPERIENCE or THoughts on this?

I've seen the engine in another SL Lancer and yes it was driving the rear wheels. I know it was made for cross mounting but these boys out here don't let that get in the way of a good bodge.

I'm thinking of buying it and putting it in mine to be a street sleeper. first thing is my brakes are poor. What is a good affordable upgrade? Or do I just need mine sorting?

ANny known problems from this conversion? Is cooling a problem for the turbo? this one has a huge intercooler.

Would it be a disaster? :?

wll since your lancer has 4g6x engine it should bolt right in. I'm not 100% sure which bolt pattrn the early 63 evo cars have, but they have provisions fo rwd.

you will need a better radiator for sure.

www.projectzerog.com is a site dedicated to rwd 4g6x cars. You should find some very good info there.

Offcoures you can. But some guru recomend that the best engine for A172 should be 4G93T causes lower HP than 4G63T. So, it would be easy to drive.

One of a A172 rally car in Pakchong (Pakchong Rally Team) has evo III engine and was modify to be 4whell drive car.

Just use a galant vr4 engine with a l200 trans, or buy an adapter for a toyota w58 or r154.

This has been done countless times in my country. I'm not sure of the problems though. Am not a turbo freak.

I'll try digging some local forums for ya :tu:

its possible!
very common upgrade here among lancers and galants.
rear wheel drive only set up. Differential from lancer GSR or GT with disk brakes. Bigger disk from galants for the front. you also need to find an LSD which is quite hard to find for that model.
One draw back however is that the distributor hits the fire wall. So you need to cut and modify the firewall.
You also need to stiffen up the chassis .
