Electrical gremlins messing with the car.
While driving back home last november 25,2012 from the meet , my headlights went off by itself.
So cautiously i drove behind my friends car for safety . Using the passing light as my headlight once in a while.
Tail lights and park lights are OK since it has a different wiring seperate from the headlights.
This happened before ....maybe 10 years ago. the switch shorted out melting the plastic holding the terminals inside the headlight switch assembly which also houses the wiper switches.
At home the following day... checked the fuses all are OK. Check the headlight relays and tail light relays ( I use bosch) OK.
The wirings are original and has never been tampered.
After fixing the old switch the headlights then became OK, tailights OK, but the passing light switch is not working.
A little fixing again, cleaning the contacts and all.....checked it again..... headlghts OK, tailights OK, still no passing light..... and the wiper work only with the headlights on. If i turn off the headlights the wipers wont work!
weird because the wipers have a separate switch!!!
I installed a used headlight switch assembly which i know is in GOOD as new condition....guess what? same results...
no headlights, tail lights working, wiper working and no passing light!
And the weird thing happened.... i installed again the old one!
Headlights OK high and low beam working , signal lights OK, wiper switch OK with passing light working.
I tested the other one and seems OK too!
EVERYTHINGS OK now. Put back the original switch and kept the spare inside the trunk for emergency fix.
Old switch

Newer switch
