I came across this local Craigslist ad for a 75 Dodge Colt.

http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/4786185256.html

I found out, after doing some research on this forum, that this was the old car of one of our members. Seen here in his build thread:

http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=21917

Don't ask me how this car made it from Spokane Washington to northern NJ... The car is still pretty clean, however the previous owner cut up the fender to fit some wild fender flares, and then removed them leaving the destroyed fenders... My question is, if I decide to pick it up, do you think it will be easier to replace the fenders, (if they are even available anywhere), or do I re-apply some smaller fender flares and paint the whole car black!
Just so you are aware of the full plan, I will also then fit in the 400-500 HP 4G64-T that is currently residing in my 1981 Dodge Challenger...

What do you think??
And, is the original owner still on here?

price is way too high... I think the car sold for $2k with wheels and flares still on it. Either way, price is way up there.

keep your car, it's always been a super cool one to see at events.

Unfortunately, the Challenger is done. Discovered some pretty nasty frame rot, and it has to go. I also have a mint 89 Max I'm considering swapping everything into, but that's been done so many times...
Btw, I doubt I would offer more that $1200-$1500 for that Colt... just trying to get opinions.

Buy it! Haggle the guy down, reminding him he took off the flares & wheels
Then put some of the smaller, eBay flares on. Don't mess with putting the fender lips back to stock

As far as I remember, it had the corolla flares still installed when it made it's way from Spokane to NJ. The current owner tried to sell it a year ago for $3500. The previous owner had only just bought the car when that build thread was first created. It's not worth $2500 in the shape that it is in, that paint job is just rattle can on the sides.

Well, I bought it yesterday... got it for considerably less than what he was asking. Still needs slot of TLC, but the car is solid overall. I'll keep you guys up to date on the progress.
If anyone has any suggestions on specific unassuming flares to put on. (with links) that would be appreciated. Thanks.

Congrats and thanks for saving both the car and me from going down and grabbing it, haha. Looking forward to what you do with this car. I would say some small flares would def be needed. Such a shame that the old owner hacked up a solid car. IncorporatedX uses Datsun Z, ZG flares on his wagon and the look nice. Pretty sure they are available in a narrower size as well if you wanted to go more subtle.

What are your plans otherwise?

Also hope to see you at MOD in NJ late next year, fingers crossed I should have my '74 sedan on the road and running by then.

The plan for the car will be a 4G63t swap, T5 5speed, 8.8 ford rear, paint, some bodywork, etc. I hope to get the car running by spring and bring it to the DSM Shootout in Aug. I'd love to bring it to MOD in NJ. When/where is it?!

No official dates yet, but its usually in Camden NJ in October. Its at the Campbells Field parking lot under the Ben Franklin bridge. Always a good time, but also always way short on vintage tin.

My Sapporo there a few years back under the bridge in the company of the GVR4s..

Damn, that Technica is awesome. If I was keeping my Challenger, I was going to repaint that color scheme. Now im trying to decide what color, (other that canary yellow) to paint the Colt....

I think those are the same flares on the yellow coupe a little farther up in the post. The guys over at http://www.sigma-galant.com/ might be of better help for that stuff.

The link I provided above is to the flares on the yellow coupe. The flares on the silver GTO are GTO flares and are not the same and will look weird on your car.

I see mention that you are going to be getting rid of your Challenger.
I am looking to get one for a V6 swap project and do not require a rust free car to work from.
Would yours be available once you have started the '75 swap?
And congratulations on getting that 75, that looks like a good base for a project to build on.

Most of it will be available. I need the front suspension, and entire rear end for the new project. You're more than welcome to come down here and drag everything that's left onto a trailer. PM me if you're interested.
