The intercooler (well in combination with the TC06 and 2.5" exhaust) made a huge difference in power, especially at 15psi :D

That TC05-12A you had originally would have been the original turbo, mine had the same along with a cat converter built into the turbo down pipe. It even had a BOV built into the compressor housing, with a single wire going to a boost sensor enclosed in the BOV - after I disconnected it when I replaced the TC05 with a TC06, I found I no longer had the 10psi boost/fuel cut :D

*edit* after a quick look at your engine bay again I see your TC05 had the BOV too, did you notice the lack of boost cut when you swapped it for the T25?

Unfortunately no, boost cut still takes me by surprise. I can get 0.55bar max before it cuts (and I hit my head on the steering wheel...prick of thing). The Starion boys believe there's an orange or yellow wire somewhere that if you cut, it will stop the boost cut.

My other problems at the moment are that if I put it too hard under 2K rpm it coughs and the air con now longer works (blower fan bearings are stuffed).

Bugger. I never fully understood the joys of the single point injection system - I'm glad I'll be going multi point soon although I've had no real problems with my system and I'm surprised how well it runs as it is. Although I did get mine with 120 odd kms on the clock with just one careful previous owner since being in the country. As soon as I got it I changed the dizzy cap/rotor/leads/plugs and changed all the fluids.

The stuttering at low rpm would be the spark plug gap is too big? I find Mitsi turbos really need a 0.6 or 0.7mm gap to perform better. It could also be your coil breaking down and not producing a big enough spark too. It could even be fuel related but I wouldn't even know where to start to diagnose the ECI system.

Sucks about the air con, mine still functions well and I'm glad haha. Another Starion air con pump and a re-gas later and it should be right.

Yours seems to have the oval port ECI which is the same as the JA Starion and early A183A import Starions. Mine has the even earlier (and probably more primitive!) round port injection, same as the early EX GSR Lancers etc - note my massive air box, most of that is taken up just by the AFM alone and replacement filters are non existent. Mine has 6 wires while Starion airbox has 5 wires so it's not a case of simply swapping over the Starion one either haha.

I'm not sure where his yellow/orange wire is the AUStarion guys speak of, I'm guessing it's one of the ones going to the MAP sensor on the firewall. I just noticed my boost cut miraculously disappeared after I replaced the turbo and the only thing I could think of that I changed (other than the turbo itself) was removing that wire going to the factory BOV.

Ok with huge thanks to wayne (vvega) the coilovers are together and now fitted

At the current setting it sits with the tyres (factory 195/70 balloons) even with the tops of the guards, and about 70mm ground clearance to the front crossmember. It still has a further inch lower it can go, or two inches higher. I can take out the keeper springs for a further 40mm drop.

More pics to come later

We know some GREAT upholsterers down in Amish country. They just did my friend's '81 Challenger interior, (black ond orange -- front and rear seats & door panels), for, like, $650.00 -- and it's gorgeous.

I'll forward their info, if you're interested.

haha I know but I handed the camera to my mates gf while we were on the track and there weren't many good shots at all, the spectator stand above the pits doesn't give a good view of the whole track for a camera.
