long time fan here! first time poster.. my names pete, im from melbourne - australia

i own and have owned well over quite a few mitsubishi cordia's.. here is my latest one with a 4g63 VR4 conversion - rarely gets driven but she puts a smile on my face everytime it does come out. plans are to repaint the front end again as im not happy with it.. fit the coilovers, maybe guard mirrors and fit up the set of old school enkeis i have lying around..and just enjoy it

It's kinda nice to see one of these in Australia that hasn't had half the front end chopped to hell with a ridiculously over sized intercooler shoved in there.

I wonder how many people know that these were used as Highway Patrol cars out here when they were new. Supposedly because they were just about quicker than most things out here at the time that weren't big dollar sports cars.

I gave my girlfriend a turbo 88 cordia about 2 years ago, but we have yet to get it running proper with the stock tbi setup. The only thing I havent dont is try a new ecu. I've been thinking about doing a vr4 swap to hers as I recently traded for a entire engine swap.

What kind of work is involved with dropping the 63 in? There didnt seemt o be much room to route the intercooler piping. Any chance you can post some better pictures of that?

Oh, and she would kill you for those louvers and tidy small aus spec bumpers

they were released in NSW but im unsure of any other states here in australia.. apparently they were phased out due to the fact of torque steer and the shitty brakes lol - still would of been pretty cool to have seen one back in the day

there isn't alot at all to the conversion, engine drops straight in and mates to the gearbox. the only thing you will need to modify is the top engine mount and wire ecu to suit, all very well straight forward. i use to stock alot of parts but due to room and the parents having a fit with the parts everywhere, i ended up giving them away to another enthusiast.. nothing beats the smaller AUS spec bumpers i would kill for the number plate surround on the US spec cordia though! keen to see some photos of yours

the intercooler setup isn't anything over the top, it uses 2.25' pipes so it was just a tight squeeze but it helps keep the cops at bay

Sweet looking car! Never seen one before. Should look very cool kitted up with fender mirrors, coilovers, and vintage barrels. Those louvers are killer.
