You could find Bigfoot with those lights.

Did the rubber grommets cure the sloppy throttle problem?

Just out of curiosity, what was the shop's name?

yeah the pedal is much better man. Really appreciate it.

The shop is called altered motives inc. Seems like they mostly do older datsuns, but my 510 buddy was saying something abot a rack and pinion conversion so I went in to find out about getting one done. Sounds like iit's going to be a go, He is going to take some measurements pretty soon and see whatw e can do.

Ive been pondering about that conversion thing. I was thinking of getting the 80 colt GT rack and pinion for my 78 but not sure if it will match.
Did he say w/c set he will use for your car?

I will be doing a writeup on my rack conversion when I can get to the job, Right now I am swamped with customer work so it will be a few months.
I am using a 93 Mirage rack that has been narrowed to suit the early cars properly.

yeah I was going to attempt it myself, but I figured this guy has done a ton of them for anything and everything back then. He knows more about getting it right than me.

I havent updated this thread in a while.

Anyhow, I have a few things going o with the car right now.

I'm inthe process of rebuilding the starion g54b turbo engine I picked up a while back. I'm just doing a basic rebuild on it as I dont plan on pushing any huge power out of the engine as it will already be a handful stock.

I'll be modifying my 83 sapporo axle this week to accept leaf springs also, and hopefully get a custom drive shaft made.

One of the coolest things I picked up lately is some lancer bading. Well I'm excited at least since all out cars were sold as dodge colts :) I should be putting that on shortly as well. Well, minus the 1400 lol. Thanks to bitsamissin on this site for giving me the badges and even tossing in a cool little tasmania keychain :tu:

already cleaned them up. They are on my z with tires too wide for the lancer. I'm suoppose to be selling the z, but it seems like a waste to sell it with the wheels. I think I may take them off before I sell it. I oly did a quick polish on teh lips with a polish ball.

Here are a few pics of the engine. I need to wipe down teh valve cover some more as I didnt wash it after I polished it up. Need to reclean the engine bay as well. Unfortunately I woke pu to it snowing again today. This weather is really pissing me off! I guess I will throw the g54b turbo engine in the passenger seat with the crank and see what the machine shop can do with it.I really didnt want to have it ground but it looks like thats my only option now.

well, some new progress with the car.

I have had a overheaitng issue. Pressure in the radiator. loooks like eithe the head is cracked or warped,. Either way, im to the point where I wanted a new head. So, I grabbed a 4g37 head off a 1g eclipse.

Pulling the old head off and comparing, I realized I cant use my carb intake on it. On the bright side, the turbo tbi 32b intake I had laying around works.

So here goes the progress of the g32b turbo charged conversion with a 4g37 head.

Head is aboutt og et bolted on.

I had to unbotl the rear water pipe mount and bend it torward the firewall a little to clear the rear outlet.

The turbo oil filter housing iwht the oil cooler bolts right on. I am going to see if I can get my starion oil cooler working with the lancer today. I have a feeling the initial bend near the banjo wont allow it though.

It looks like I will be using a 14b from a eclipse, which is going to be a little laggy on this engine I think, but it's what I have and I have all the lines for it.

Well, been a long time, an dI was part way through the turbo conversion but started getitng pissed off as I had no car to go drive this summer, so I said screw it, and bought a head from a local wrecker I found off carpart.

The head came off a 1978 plymouth sapporo 1.6. Interesting to note that the front piece of the rocker assembly is different than my 1978 lancer head. I dont think there is going to be any difference, but the front of the head is cast slightly different/. I will try to get a picture of it. I wonder why they did this, and I should have checked valve size to see if they even have the same valves.

So, I decided If I was gonna drop the 125 on a damn head, I might as well get some more compression, so i sent it off to the machine shop to get .040" or 1mm taken off it. I'm guessing that should bump the compression up to 9.5:1 roughly

Then when I was dinking around with the valve train as I wanted to do a small lap on the valves, I checked my schneider g54b hd springs against the stock and they seemed to be the same diamter, but slightly taller. Well, you could compress them with your hand to get to the same height, but past that they were the normal super stiff springs. I tossed them on, and so far they are working perfectly.

And hell, since I bumped the compression, I figure I might as well get rid of the shit stock 26 28 or whatever the circles were on the stock manifold. I tool a harbor freight holesaw and drilled the shit out, then I got a little carried away and rilled it completely the same as the weber, or maybve a lil more lol. There is no bridge in my manifold anymore. its more like a 36 36

So after putting everything back t non turbo and firing it up, she runs awesome. There is a night and day difference in engine response. I about shat myself, this thing has instant throttle response and it revs fast. I havent got to drive it yet, but I played with it in theg arage and let it get to operating temp so I can go retorque the head bolts tomorrow. So far, I am extremely happy with the 1mm taken off the head. Timing didnt really seem to be off at all. I figure if I take 1mm off the block down the road I will use some hevy offset bushings.

I'm sending off a cam to get reground tomorrow. I'm going to see if he can do a stage 3 or stage 4. grind off the stock.

I've been driving it around all day today. Flogging the hell out of it in the 94 degree weather. I installed a v6 late model fiero radiator today as well. No cooling issues at all :) The radiator slides right in between the rails also. Very nice fit.

I definately have a bit more power but I figure the stock exhaust manifold is really holding the car back as is the cam.

I'll try n snap some pics later, nothing really to look at.

this is a cool thread. I'm looking at maybe picking one of these up in trade for some other stuff. Yours is about as clean as the one i'm looking at. Just need to figure out a titling issue.

Yeah, that's the same one. Hopefully I can work it out to do a partial trade for a pair of my 510 shells for the colt and cash.

I have experience in getting lost titles so it shouldn't be a big deal.
