Ok so the roof, whew where do I begin! Well I suppose vinyl removal Is probably the best place! So........after I stripped the vinyl off (and bearing in mind this is the first thing I've EVER had to do with cars) I noticed a load of cracking on the roof and I had no idea what this was, after some discussions it was agreed that it was filler, and after further discussions it was agreed that having filler under a vinyl roof was normal (I didn't know this), basically this is what it looked like:

so I start chipping away at this filler and was dumbfounded by what I got, to start with, the filler in its thickest part was over an inch thick I have a photo but won't let me post it
then what was underneath the filler nearly brought me to tears:

What you see spreads all across the roof, its covered in what looks to be surface rust but there's gashes and gouges all dug into the metal, it looks like its been on its roof at some point, and then rather then treat the problem they've just masked over it with the filler and left it to corrode under there!
So firearrow is correct with it generating more problems
And I just gotta figure out what care I heave to give it whit! Looks like a lot more than I bargained for!
Still its better to find out now than further down the line! As I stand currently the roof hasn't been touched, im in the process of labelling up the wires so I can drop the engine out, i'll be putting that to one side whilst I focus on the bodywork, keep to one thing at a time! Once engines out shes off for a shotblasting session
