The progress is slow but the cage is done and the rx7 GSLSE rear end and 4 link is almost ready too. i can dig out some other photos if you like...

its got a p ported 12A and will have 2nd gen brakes on the GSLSE front suspension too

We don't mind more photos :D
If I heard right, the SP is unique to the USA, isn't it?
What are the differences other than tail lights?

They were available only in 77 & 78. They came with black bumpers & grill, RX-3SP badge only on the right side of the car, the rear quarter windows were fixed, the rear end was a short nose (same as 1st Gen RX-7) and a close ratio 5sp tranny just to name a few. Was available with or without the appearance package that included, front spoiler, rear spoiler, rear window louvers (made by shadow), side window louvers and stripe kit for the sides, rear spoiler, hood and front spoiler.
Very hard to find these cars today especially with the appearance package.
I can't find info if 77/78 RX-3SP were offer outside of US. All I seen is that the last RX-3's available for the rest of the world were the 1976 models. Maybe in Australia/NZ?

Should be a nice project and yeah love the place number....Keep the factory blue paint reminds me of the one I used to have.

All 76 to 78 Rx3 that are offered here in the US are all "SP" some with out the stripe and the dress up kits.

Here's the two SP I used to have a 76 and 77 one with and with out the stripes.

The cars with actual IMSA racing experience are getting very rare I hope that he preserves as much of this heritage as possible. I currently have one that was a SCCA racer(have the log books with her) back in the day and I would love as many pictures as you could give documenting any of the modified components that this one has. That way if it is "destroyed" not restored to racing experience it is still documented. If you can as the shop owner send me an email i would be willing to pay some for your time and effort to do this.

RX-3 SP was a USA market model only, though Australia got some 808s with the same tail lights.

The '77/'78 Australian 808 sedans and coupes got the same tail lights as the SP's and the Jap spec V100.
