Well, what do you want out of the car? daily car? track?

that welded diff is not going to make a pleasant street car

um.. you can get a turbo car for 2k. and an na car with similar condition or less milage for 1k. make sure if you do get an FC. to at least get a 5 lug car. the 4 lug cars have smaller brakes and there is a better wheel choice in 5x.. but yeah in my opinion, 2k is pretty steep for an 86' base. check ebaymotors for going prices. or www.rx7club.com for more info

also that welded diff is bad bad bad. if you decide to turbo it later on, that diff will shatter and leave you stuck(ask how i know) and its not needed if you get an fc with a clutch type lsd to start with.

ive been into rx7s for about a decade now so i like to think i know what im talking about.

Yeah for now im just looking at it being a daily driver

alright thanks man, like i said i dont know all that much about what a good price would be. I'll definatly keep on looking for an rx though, i love the cars. And now that i have that info that you filled me in on i'll know what to look for.
once again thanks for helping me out with this.
is that the price for where you live? or just in general?

in general really. the fc you are describing is not very sought after and the bettr equipped ones arent much more money so it drives the prices down even more.

value is all in the eye of the beholder..

here is a mint cherry 87 with less miles than posted and is at 1500

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Excellen ... 06.c0.m245

here is a convertible rendition sitting at 1800$ without any interest at all

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Covertib ... 06.c0.m245

here is a turbo with a decent mods list including better ecu and upgraded turbo for 2500

http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=859414

point is. these cars are cheap. i dont hold much weight in value of wheels but i also own about 5x as many sets of wheels as i do cars. anyway. keep us updated. the fc and rotary in general always peak my interest.

oh and just for fun.. my drift fc before correct body fitment and paint. im about 10k into it and would be excited to get 6 out of it

alright thanks for the help guys, i would put the craigslist post up here but it is expired now. But i know the guy still hasnt sold the car

Yeah i think i should be able to get something for cheaper, that sounds a bit much for that car now with the other ones you were showing me.

i found another one in craigs for 2K OBO, but the thing is that the car is not registered here in oregon, and the guy thinks that it wont pass emissions with that exhaust on it. here is the link to the post,
http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/cto/1402196358.html

The only way i would buy it probably tho is if i were able to get him to sell it to me for 1500 cause then its gonna be another 200 to get it all registered and everything, how hard do you guys think it would be for the car to pass deq?

Thanks again everyone for helping me out on this.
