 Post subject: what 5speed trannys wil fit a 1.8 78 929 wagon

hi, i currently have a 4speed on my 1.8litre 929 1978 wagon
and i reaaally hate the high rpm i have at highway cruice, so im going 5speed
the thing i want to know is, what trannys from witch different model wil fit on my engine?
post as many options as possible (they arent easy to find)

if you have VC engine than you need 5-speed gear box from MA engine...

look for 1-st gen Mazda 626 (CB2) 1979-1982 and Mazda 929L (LA4)

ok, so those are my options.
will they bolt strait up without mods? as long as they are from the 1970ccm f/MA engine?

Does anyone know of any other gearboxes that would bolt right in? or are we limited to the aforementioned mazda ones? what about any fords (considering they have a bit of swapping going on)

And, does anyone have/know of where i can get one of the 5spd gearboxes around the brisbane area?

The MA 5spd box will bolt up to the engine, but you might need to use the bottom plate from the MA engine, relocate the gearbox crossmember and have the propshaft shortened
