Thanks for the ideas Philip, probably a stupid question (don't flame me too hard! a little bit is okay :P) but is the fuel level in the bowl supposed to exceed the "level" marking? Quick Google reviles that the float may be stuck or an issue with the needle and/or seat, i am sending the carb away to get a kit put through it over the next few days so fingers crossed.

If it's just over the line then no problems but if the sight glass is full, then the carby is being flooded, so will make it cough and splutter.
Can you see any visible fuel leaks(weepage around joints) around the carby when you have the air filter assembly off?
If no, then I would definitely check my fuel pump before I did anything else. The old fuel pumps were rated at roughly 4 gallons per hour (18L/Hr converted is 3.3L/minute).
This is why the fuel line "in" fitting on the carb has a return line back to the tank.

All you have to do is take your fuel line off the carb, put it into a 2L container, and turn the ignition on. In 20 seconds you should roughly get around a litre of fuel in the bottle.

Hey guys, the old duck has been running very well lately so i've taken her out to a few meets, nothing interesting to report aside from a few little oddities (RAC grille badge, vintage Mazda decal on the rear screen)

I don't understand the lack of love for this model either. Easily the best looking Capella. It looks meaner as Dave pointed out with the pointy 12a rx3 style front and it's more refined but not to the point where it's too fussy or messed with.

This is such a beautiful example too, well done.

Hey guys, no big news (as usual :P ) however i have done the following:

-Had the car machine cut + buffed after an unfortunate incident with a leaky pipe at an undercover carpark
-Lowered it a bit too much  i love the looks but its a bit bouncy for me so will have to sort something out (would like coilovers but $$$)
-Got sick of looking at the tired grill so i plastidipped it "gun metal grey", very happy with the results and it can simply be peeled off when i want to get it painted properly 8)

I started a new job this week so the 12a/5spd project should be getting a wriggle on soon, until then though i just cant stop driving it!

They're actually those rubber whitewall insterts also known as 'portawalls', you can get them in different colours & the ones i have with the black/white and they're only $100ish posted. I get them from http://www.portawallshop.com/?refreshed (terrible website but great seller  )
