You don't waste time, it was still blue only last week !

I'm tipping Dennis will be hassling you pretty soon, like he doesn't already have enough cars to start up FNQ used Rotarys

I dont think he likes my Rx5 because it has no power steering!

Cleaned up the motor today. the timing covers away getting a oil drain fitting put on it, for the old style webber turbo set up i plan to do later.

The motor is on a pallet because a customer borrowed my engine stand three years ago, and dosnt seem to be in any hurry to bring it back

Dave when you get time, would you mind measuring the wheel cap retaining band recess on the hubs on your Rx5 with some verniers ? I'm after the width and diameter of the recess. I have a guy hassling me for REPU wheel cap retaining bands.

I think Rx5 used larger wheel cap bands than Rx2,3,4... there may be the off chance that REPU (B1600 piston variant ?) may be the same as Rx5. If I can use the existing tooling that I had made it might be viable to make a few. There's nothing in it for me except for a headache.

Carby was filthy, cleaned out every jet, most of them were blocked. fuel tank was rusted out beyond repair aswell, a mate gave me one from an RX4, was exactly the same.

yes i have used a lot from that rusty Rx4..pedal box, all kinds of things.

I forgot to mention the new brake hoses, and oil dump fitting. this is for later on, i will be doing a late 80s early 90s webber turbo set up. The car will be on club rego, so the mods have to be from the era, no EFI. I have a garret TO4 turbo for it, jatco auto with 3500 stally, and ive found a place in the usa that sells the 55mil side draft webbers new.

Also got some cheap gaurd mirrors for it last week.

Image

it has a cap over it for now.

New flex hoses.

The car was also photographed for a local newspaper story on car clubs this week. he did some awsome shots with the a remote flash under the engine. and some of a mates R100/1300 sedan. will post some pics of the article when it comes out.

Spent all weekend on the tank, repaired the roof, quaters, boot, doors and got them all edged out and bolted back on. Its amazing how fast you can get a car painted if you dont do it properly! I usually take cars back to metal, and do everything by the book, so they last. Then i get too scared to drive them after all the hard work, so this ones just a tidy up . If it rains while im out driving it i wont cry.
