Wow the complete rear garnish must have been a ticky one to source.

And where my Carol 600 and 800 Deluxe sedan came from as you already know. My Carol still has the dealer sticker on the back window.

Beautifull 1300 coupe, so nice to see one like this still. Love the rear garnish.

Why did this car come with a patch of vinyl on the roof ?
On other's iv seen it covered the whole Roof.

I know this was common in the 20's and 30's to use a patch of vinyl cover the seams in the roof.

It's a Very nice car the rear garnish looks so much better than that of a R100.

It's not a patch of vinyl. It's a "rag top slider" or "slide rag" top. Kinda like a sunroof, but vinyl/fabric, instead of glass/metal.

Looks like this when open:

They are very popular in the vintage Volkswagen and custom mini-truck community. :tu:

This may be only the second one I've ever seen on a JNC. First one I saw was on a 510 wagon. Looked good there, and on this early Mazda too. 8)

Thanks Dave for posting the pics up for me and also help out with the garnish and tail lights.

As Dave mentioned my old man purchased it from reg smith motors pacific highway in Artarmon on the 30-10-70 im not sure exactly what it cost but i can try find out ...

as for the ragtop it was an optional thing back in the day so my old man thought it would be a good idea at the time ,the ragtop is a Tudor Webasto as previous said above it was fitted by Auto Sun and air pty ltd in brookvale in the early 70's maybe a year or so after he purchased it. I still have the ragtop booklet that came with the ragtop and also have the owners handbook and service coupon book and sleave that came with the car..

As for the rear garnish i was very lucky to obtain it i was just in the right place at the right time i had been looking around for a while i just happened to come accross one and snapped it up knowing i would'nt find another one anytime soon ..

anyway if you what anymore answers feel free to drop me a message

cheers guys

jono

Nice! I am currently tidying up a 1969 1500 deluxe auto sedan in Lark Beige. It was purchased new from Water's Garage Roseville which is a short distance from Artarmon. Crazy to think that how uncommon it was to buy a Japanese car at the time, that these 2 cars were from dealerships just kilometeres away!

I still can't get over how nice and original this car is, and still in the same family from new. testament to how well your dad maintained it over the years and obvious its in great hands now with you. Normally I wouldn't want to see a car in this condition modified but gee how good does that rear end look now top job.
