i read the ausrotary thread, but nobody bothers to look at the original c110 concept sketches

http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/2010/04 ... -sketches/

as there are no round tail lamps in any of the sketches, it seems very plausible that nissan parroted the tails from rx510 concept with slight alterations

fascinating bit of historical info

Ya the rear shot looks a little "A.M.C. Matadorish". :D

For a 71' concept it looks like 77-79' Auto Styling.
If I had to guess I would have thought 1978. 8)

I hope its collecting dust somewhere safe

Wow, I love it, it looks better than the normal RX-3/808. It gives the car more body.

Nothing is impossible, the only thing you need is a very very big bag with money.

Those pics in the article linked are actually my photos, which I posted on Ausrotary. I searched for literally years for a copy of the Car Graphic 1971 Annual as I had read in the issues index that it had an article on the car, and I'd never even seen a photo of the rear of the car. The pictures are not scans, but photos I took because I didn't want to risk damaging the magazine. It took me ages to get good shots with only a minimum of distortion.

I love the style of the car, although the front is a little over the top. I'd like to build a replica, but would settle for just the wheels and flares!

I can't see the pics in that article. Is it just me or are they gone?

I've sometimes toyed with the idea of building a 3rd custom or street project car and would consider something like this however I just don't like the front end to put myself through all the torture. The front end is some seriously confused styling. I think there is just too much of it for such a small car. Also looks too American for a Japanese car. Most of the work looks reasonably straight forward. The biggest expense would be having the front bar made, and Im pretty sure one of the custom wheel places could spin up the wheels for a few grand without too much trouble. I think its a perfect project to devalue a perfectly good 808 or Rx3 :P

Does that front end remind anyone else of the cosmo/RX5?

I'm pretty sure the RX-510 still exists (if that is the one you meant that was destroyed?)

Didn't DMRH or someone find it sitting in the Mazda HQ in an underground carpark?
