I stopped in a few weeks ago to see how progress was going on Tonys Cosmo restoration. He has been more occupied with his Datsun 240Z so Cosmo is still waiting..... Anyway I decided to snap a few pics to share with you all.

Hey madaz, are you talking about RE10 Tony ?

Nice pics, I've toyed with buying a r130 or Cosmo however I'd be too scared to drive it.

Where would you find a front or rear windscreen if you ever cracked one. Would you have to possibly wait years for one to pop up ? Its things like this that scare me off these rare beauties !

Most imported Japanese cars conform with NZ legal requirements so it is relatively easy to register Japanese cars for use on NZ roads. Its normally NZ's frontal impact laws that restrict certain Japanese cars from registration in NZ.

Ah Tony one day maybe we can get a 2 for the price of one deal

Rotarydave 10a gasket kits are still available new from Mazda, I bought 2 sets about 6 weeks ago with some other stuff.

I read years ago that Mazda are sympathic towards Cosmo 110s owners, a Cosmo owner in NSW was contacted by Mazda for a set of new rotor housings that they apparently produced to help with the restoration. It's a nice thought if it's true, however what about us Rx3 owners, a car with cult following both in Japan and Australia.... come on Mazda start stamping replacement panels for some of the popular old models and put the QLD clown out of business forever !

Out of interest is the L10A much different to the B model or are they much of a muchness ?

The L10B(series 2) received a few improvements over the rarer L10A(series 1).
The most noticeable is the larger grill and side vents, also larger 15" wheels, power brakes, longer wheelbase and 5 speed gearbox. The 0813 10A engine produced an extra 18hp over its predecessor lowering the 0-400m time from a stated 16.4sec (L10A) down to a stated 15.8sec. But as any cosmo owner knows these times are difficult to achieve unless you are Jay Leno with his weber fed 12A.

Tony's Cosmo is one of three imported into NZ by BDF Tyres in Papakura Auckland.

Darryl's one is tucked away safe and sound...

There are a few in NZ now. Not sure if any of them are on the road?

Dave, happy to take any 10a parts off your hands  I still have the 10aPP sitting in the shed, still tucking parts away for a rainy day.

How is your collecting going?
