why the rear was so terribly designed on these cars. when i had mine the rear panel was gone (not as bad as yours but bad enough)

finally tracked down a replacement from a business in QLD (will not name) but he asked for a second hand panel with a few 20cent pieces of rust spots for $1100...

good luck with the restoration, hope to see her shiny and happy :)

i miss that car so much, it was fantastic to drive (even with MA)... once get my own place and my LUCE upto where i want it will track one of these down for sure....

having said that, driving it has seeded a dire want to purchase a safari suit, feathered head and grow bushy moustache with some mad sideburns.... love that car

the sitting position is fantastic in it too

haha. I turned on the am radio in mine and instantly felt the urge to ring up and complain about something or other on the talkback show.

I stopped in at the supermarket to get some old spice and some white y fronts as well.

I admire your dedication and understand why you do it. We have a pair Cosmos/Rx5s that are nearly as bad rust wise but are repairing and restoring them. It would not have been difficult to find replacement ones here in the US however these 2 are unique they are serial number 109 and 111, sister cars and they are identical same colors same options. So I know what you are going through

Is it a 121 or is it an RX5/Cosmo?

I am bidding on this $1 reserve RX5 at the moment, it will also be a mamoth task, it had a vinyl roof which has been removed to reveal rust and it also has some extensive rust elsewhere but interior is good.

well, it does have rx5 wheels... other than that its hard to pick them. engine bay, and (if it still has original) exhaust - rx5s had wide rectangular tip (not sure on cosmos though)

Still looking for a time to start this one. One question i have though, what is the oil capacity of a 121 5-speed gearbox?
