Ive managed to pick up a Triumph Acclaim aka Honda Ballade this weekend for $100 :D It was on ebay and described as a "good runner" but at that money i thought it would be worth a punt.
The plan is to swap the whole twin carbed Honda EN4 engine (75bhp) and manual 5 speed gearbox from the Acclaim into my civic hondamatic.
Here's the old Acclaim ive got

Took me 15 minutes of fettling to start the engine. Not bad considering its been parked in a field for a few years 8)

Pictures.

And a video of it running. Sweet. :P

EN4 engine running for the first time in years

Now then a few surpises. The acclaim door pulls look identicle to the first gen ones and the chrome trim on the acclaim is in much better shape then mine. Maybe i can use it

Image

Maybe i can use other trim peices too :D like the centre console :?

Roof trim is the same size, it just doesnt have the chrome strip. There's hundreds of fastners i can take of the car. I'm pleased with it for $100 with a good engine a 5 speed gearbox

I'm also wondering if i can use the brake master as well?

I got the engine and transmission out of the acclaim as well as some other parts that may come in usefull one day.

For speed the gas axe was used to cut through the lower suspension arms etc. With the ARB removed, track rods ends and strut top undone i pulled the whole lot out with the drive shafts as well.

Then is was simply undo the engine mounts and away we go.

All gone

I also remove the steering column and the most important bit, the pedal box. I'm hoping this fits into the 1st Gen Civic.

Mate, I love the car color matched with the chrome bumpers.

I used to drive one of these civic. It belonged to my Aunt. This car simply sips petrol. Good car!
