Hi everyone!

My name's Andrew. Joined this forum a while back, but haven't lurked here in a while. Just decided to look back on since I'm down with the Skyline fever again. :P Currently, I own a '89 Celica GTS that overheats, so I (pretty much) never drive it. lol
Because of that, I'm thinking about getting another car.

Anyways, about the Skyline...
I was hoping to maybe import a DR30 or something 25 years or older to California. Would it be a costly process? How hard would it be to register it and stuff since the car's already DOT and EPA exempt? Do I still have to worry about smog? Insurance? What do I need to know before trying to purchase the car? Currently, the R30's I've been looking at are in the $3-4K (USD) range. What about maintinence costs? They never made FJ20's in the US right?

Thanks so much and have a nice day! :D

Welcome to JNC. It can take a while for people to reply to intro's but I'm here in San Diego too. I'll send you a PM and maybe I'll see you at some meets. I've been told, specifically by an importer that it's roughly about $4,000 USD to import a car. DR30's are pretty sick cars. If you are really interested, send me a PM and I'll let you know the info of my contact. My personal opinion is that I'd probably try to import a Cedric, or Laurel here to the US because I don't think I've even seen any on US soil. Perhaps I'll see you at some old school meets around San Diego. Again welcome to the site.

Correct. No USD cars had the FJ20.
