I have been looking at a dual carb setup for my 2tc, and I have been debating back and forth between Webers and Mikunis. However, I have recently found that you can pick up a good rebuilt set of Solexes for less than a used/non-rebuilt set of Mikunis cost. Is there a reason for this? I thought that a Mikuni was a Solex copy made under license in Japan. Am I missing something here? Are European Solexes worse, or just less desirable to the JDM crowd because "Made in Japan" is not stamped on them?

This. 8)

I've run two set of Solex 40s recently with zero fuss. Would recommend them to anyone. As long as you're okay with "Made In Italy".

Side note, I'm about to post a pair of rebuilt 40s for sale if you're interested.

Hahaha, I run Italian motorcycles, so I am quite familiar with all that "Made in Italy" entails. Sweet, sweet highs when it all works, cursing tragedy when it doesn't. At least the carbs are generally very well designed!

I may actually be interested in the Solexes if the price is right. What are you looking to get for them?

Asking $325 shipped. Professionally rebuilt, ran for maybe 100 miles, just taken off the car this week.
