Couldn't find that size on the trusty old www.tyrestretch.com, but they do show a 195/45-13 on a 13x8.5. Should be fairly close to the look of your set-up...

Yeah--too much. Leave that to the VW guys.

First pic looks perfect, IMHO.

Steering response is good , less flex on the tire wall.
Stop and Go- FUN !
Top End - SUCKS !

Can someone please explain any REAL benefit to tire stretching other than trying to clear your fenders on a lowered car? It seems to me that any advantages of running such a wide wheel are negated by running a small tire (because the contact patch is what matters). I would think that hard cornering would also increase the risk of the bead coming undone and causing rim damage or a crash. I'd like to hear both sides....advantages vs disadvantages. Thank you.

Typically it's either that, or "style" reasons.

Not what matters to everyone. 8)

On extreme stretches (as above), that is possible. On mild stretches, not really a possibility.

Really, the tire popping off the bead only happens when you drive them hard whilst under-inflated.

This will be the 40th time I've said this on this forum: If you're looking for the logical justifications for tire stretching, you're not going to find it. Just roll your eyes and move on. :P

For me, I was looking at getting wide 13s and wanted to see how the 215/50/13 would look on them because thats the widest easily available street tire that they make in 13" in the usa :tu:

That donut spare tire looks almost like a sportbike tire the way it's stretched.

Avon makes a wider road legal tire. They definately aren't cheap, but worth it.

model CR500 245 50 13 or there is one other model thats 245 45 13 250 a pop if I remember right though, so definately not cheap. I'll probably try running a set on the n2 starlet im going to build.
