 Post subject: Squeaky brakes..

Brakes on my 85 Toyota Cressida(MX73) squeak.
Brake pads are new and I cannot find the problem.
any suggestions??

Is there air in your lines? Are they 4 wheel discs? Sometimes you need to adjust the shoes.

And did you apply some copper grease at the back of the brake pads?

metallic brake pads, glazed rotors - or warped rotors, the caliper slider bolts getting stuck ( not lubed ), shims,. there are more causes.....

what brand are the pads? I manage a brake shop and if you bought the eco brands im not surprised. also the more metallic they are the more they squeek when cold.

Don't forget there is a break in period too. New pads will have a rough surface from the factory, and won't seat up perfectly against your rotor's existing grooves until worn a bit, true even if they've been turned on a lathe. Usually more of a grind noise but if you didn't turn your rotors, it can be a squeak. Also, did you grease the areas where the pad backing plate moves against the caliper bracket?
