Adding a passenger mirror

So, I have an 80 Corolla that I want to add a mirror to the passenger door. My question is, what is the best way to do this? Aside from just craming 2 sheet metal screws through.

drill. mount mirror with nut bolt combo. after everything is tight and where you want it, tack weld the nuts to the inside of the door.

I figured that might be the path, but I don't see a way to get to the back side of the door panel. There is alot of other metal in the way.

How about Rivnuts or Nutserts? These are basically blind rivets but they are hollow and threaded.

Yes rivnuts or whatever they are named.Thats how I did mine.
similar to a rivet but with a threaded I.D..Just make sure they go in at the correct angle.Not straight on.

No need to access the inside of the door.
