No worries, I'd be hip to a C10 Skyline. Just kinda wanted a B110 Sunny body too...

for the smaller mini 1/10 they have nice bodies..

realistic drift / countersteering is the new trend now..
50:50 style starts to get boring..

The 3D scanning idea got lost in the Nostalgic top 50 list.

I looked at the ABC site again, and they have a Lancer Evo 3 body that comes close to a JT1s Gemini.

Does anyone know anything about vacuum forming and mold making? I wonder if a positive could be made by pouring casting material into the Evo 3 lexan body. Then modify the positive form to resemble a JT1s Gemini, and vacuum form new bodies from the positive.
The scanning equipment is way out of my financial reach, and the low tech / high labor method might be an easier choice.

This body was released for order by Spice today. Looks like the price will be about average for Lexan bodies.

It says the body width is 198mm. I am not an RC expert, but this seems to mean that it is meant for 1/10 regular scale, and not the 1/10 Mini scale which became popular with the ultra realistic bodies in the last couple years.

Even so, it looks pretty darn accurate. Not sure if it will look correct to scale sitting next to other 1/10 regular scale cars that might be bigger in real scale...

Back to not knowing much about the current RC trend:
What is a decent quality chassis?
Not for going out and driving at the championship race, but something that is not garbage, doesn't need to be recharged every 90 seconds, and has reasonable parts availability.
Tamiya was always entry level and non-competitive against the tub chassis buggies and stadium trucks in the 90's. It looks like that has changed, and they offer a range from entry to pro level.
All the drift cars are AWD, which would be a plus for a nostalgic racer like this.
Yokomo looks really neat, but I don't know about their availability. They suspended internet sales? Is that right? And available in stores?
ABC Hobby has the same availability in stores question. And is their stuff all 1/10 Mini scale?
It also looks like belt drive may be more desirable than shaft drive, because of the friction, which would reduce run time between charging.

Any of this lead to an obvious choice?

Spice put up some pictures of a Bellett in black (not a factory color, but looks pretty business like).

And they just released a Mitsubishi Starion that looks pretty good also.

Now, if only they sold on road or drift cars and parts within 200 miles of this place, the land that imports and the metric system forgot.

Cheap entry, great chassis, and TONS of aftermarket support.

And not just because that's my weapon of choice...
