I've been on You Tube and have seen a few and heard about the Nissan Tsuru, which is the Sunny and Sentra. I heard they're big in Mexico. Interested in doing a Sentra to Tsuru swap, prolly SR20det. Anyone have any pics or examples of any nice ones. Info on swaps would be appreciated, too. Datsunfreak chime in, since your the Nissan guru. :)

As mentioned, that's really just headlights, tail lights, and badges. All fairly easy to get. :tu:

FYI, if you're talking about Tsuru engines, they all came with the GA16DE, same engine as our base model B13 Sentras. But SR20DET swaps are fairly easy and cheap to buy, coming in both the JDM Sunnys and Pulsars. :tu:

Photos of nice B13 Sunnys abound, B13 Tsurus not so much... :P

They were only sold in Mexico/Central America, and most were sold into slavery as taxi cabs. :?

gotta be pretty dedicated to swap all the stuff onto a usa spec car, but it makes a HUGE difference, esp. the small boompers 8)

The problem is, for small bumpers you need Sunny bumpers, not Tsuru. The Tsuru has the same bumpers as our Sentra E/XE. Yes, dedication indeed... 8)

Heres A nicely done B13 Tsuru Swap.

The front bumper is off of a Nissan Sunny though, as is the Grill.

Image

The Tsuru Originally came with a Carburated GA13 engine, but the SuperSaloon had the GA16DE Fuel injected motor and all the power options. The car is essentially the same as a B13, with the exception of the interior and brake system downgrades. The non SuperSaloon models didn't have power steering either, for the sake of keeping production cost down. The New Tsuru however comes with a GA16DNE, which is a motor that Ive never even seen before.

If you want to do the swap, buy a B13 SE-R then put the Tsuru conversion on it, which is all over ebay as a whole kit with optional black housing lights. As for the SR20DET swap it is pretty much bolt in if you have an SE-R because it comes with an N/A SR in it. The non SR equipped Sentras are a pain to swap an SR into, you need to change axles, motor mount brackets, transmission brackets, and that's assuming its one equipped with a manual transmission because if its not, that a whole different can of worms.

Or you could go across the border and pick up a Tsuru for about 8k out the door. Check it out at the official Nissan Tsuru website, lol this car has its own website!

Thanks for the ideas and replies, guys. What do you think about adding fender mirrors to a 91-94 Sentra, even though it is kinda outside of the JNC realm? Love the look, just don't want to be a ricer. Just something different.

Always held a place for the B13, what some called "a basic econobox, made to mod like a modern day 510". Would love to get a 1st Gen SE-R. :)

Here's a nice example of a modded Tsuru Turbo:

Wow, didn't even know all that was involved in switching over a GA16de to an SR swap. :(

It's good to know they still produce the B13 chassis Sentra till this day in Mexico, kinda like the original Volkswagen Bug till 2003. Imagine if they still made Hako Skylines and TE72 Corollas to this day, brand new off the line in Mexico? Oh happy day! :tu: :tu:

Would an AWD swap from a JDM Pulsar GTI-R be possible as well? Didn't they make an AWD B13 Sunny, also?

Also, move this to off-topic. I have great love for these cars, but it's not really what this site is all about.

Feel free to continue the discussion here, though. :tu:

They did have a ATTESA AWD system equipped Sunny for the Japanese market only. It is possible to make a US market Sentra AWD using the GTI-R drivetrain but there is alot of custom fab work that needs to be done, and it is also very expensive.

@ datsunfreak , I dont think it would be expensive at all since there is already a US market equivalent to the Tsuru here already. I dont think it would be worth it because the car is horrendously slow, but it would be cool to show off your 2009 B13 sentra that still has that new car smell.

Sometimes that works against you when importing a car. :?

But there is one heavily illegal solution... :P

I can fix that. 8)

I own both a B13 4 door LE Sentra and an S13 coupe 240sx, and I always wish my B13 was in "showroom" condition because its such a cool car. The reason for it looking square and like a 510 is because the guy who designed the 510 was managing the B13 Sentra design team.
