I love Mk1 escorts too, there is a RS2000 Mk1 running about around here, I have a few pics of it somewhere around here from a rallycross last year

Luckily we have them here. I've two Mk1s under resto, one with bubble arches already fitted. Had a Mk2 before and looking for another Mk2 8)

I've seen some on in the USA (on the Net of course), most are rally cars though. And Henry Ford II has a Mk2 RS2000 automatic (!) specially built for him.

We have some gorgeous ones.... there are benefits to being "the ass end of the world" according to some.
in Melbourne we have "small Fords Sunday" an annual event full of capri's, Eski's, and all little things Ford right up to the new Fiesta's and Focus' (or is that Foci)

On the whole the only Fords I like are Harrison and Robben, but car-wise I have to say the MKI Escort along with the GT40 has a certain appeal.

Was it Escorts or Cortinas that the Brits were racing the heck out of in the 1970s in some oval track amateur class? I remember Top Gear mentioning something about Camaros and Mustangs in that same class........?

I'm paraphrasing Richard Hammond: "Camaros and Mustangs ruled the straight-aways but the Escorts (or Cortinas???) would devour them on the corners".......?

I think that was the Lotus Cortina? Definitely quite the giant-killer in it's day. :tu:

Ford Cortina with a Lotus twin-cam engine and retuned suspension.

There was one of those at the Targa Newfoundland this year.....

Outstanding build on the car by a historic rally shop in the UK.

I heart English Ford products. Srsly.

Even the MK3 Escorts were kick-ass in England...

I think the adequate description of that car is "no anything"
