On a Sunny afternoon way back in the 70's, a group of fearless men took their (then new) 60's and 70's daily drivers/weekend warriors out to the 'ring.

No helmets, no safety gear, no seat belts.

Their inexperience at the wheel and their cars lack of handling was captured on film.

The synchronised BMW drifting, the guy falling out of the beetle, the sheer lunacy of taking to the ring in a beetle convertible full of passengers....

At 1:25 there's what I believe is a dark green VW 1600 Variant,the car my family had when I was a small boy.Who on earth would want to drive that thing on a race track??!! That thing was bad enough on public roads... :shock:

but the positive thing to come out of that is a testimony to the sheer sturdiness of the beetle body! a veeeeryyyy far cry from its current version :(

haha, I rofled at the guy falling out of the open door of the beetle on a hard corner. Literally, my wife was like "wtf?!" in the next room and I had to show her :P.

What a pack of idiots. Why didnt anybody get a clue after the first near fatal roll?! And how did the guy on the black bike not take in a mouthful of gravel?
