the list is out for my next possible assignments,
i have a base in Maryland, Arizona, and Texas.

of those three, i thought Maryland would be my base of choice, but now I'm thinking that i will lean toward Arizona, my mother in law lives a couple of miles from the base. (that could be good or bad LOL) i want my wife to really be stoked about this assignment, so im going to try for Arizona. if i could pick i would go for Charleston, but that shits never available for some reason..

anyone close to arizona, or IN arizona?? i am building another drift car as soon as i get there, so i want to know some info on their inspection rules etc..

Perhaps they had nothing constructive to add?

I vote for Texas. 8)

What's up Wookie? You sound a bit grumpy :D

Hopefully moving your post to the appropriate forum will cheer you up :tu:

Unfortunately, I have nothing constructive to add as I have never been to Maryland, Arizona or Texas although I would consider moving closer to your mother in law carefully. I moved 3500 miles from mine but thinking of increasing the distance a bit more

Toolz, dont move too far away from her or you might start getting closer.
Hawaii looks like the optimum distance.

Wookie - your build is one of the reasons I keep checking in. The sad thing is that lack of funds right now puts my project on hold. I'll be dead if my 510 trades hands. I hope to see your car in person if you're as close as AZ. You got a homie in San Diego if you ever come through man.

First, which base in Maryland? Grew up just off of the proving grounds and used to sneak on all the time. I would second Texas, even if it is too hot for me. Good strong JNC community in most of the larger cities. Drifting is well supported in Texas as well and there is a growing scene here in Oklahoma just north. Arizona, I know nothing about other than it is hotter than Texas. Gotta keep the missus happy though. GLWTM

Great place, but no military bases really. Which I assume is what he meant?

You in the Air Force? If it's Luke that you're looking at then you should like it just fine. I was stationed there from 96-00 and I loved it except for the heat, but I'm from the SF bay so I dont care for that heat. Phoenix is a great place to live for a car nut and there is a track not far from the base.

I recently moved to Chicago after having spent 15 years in Phoenix. Only part that sucks about owning a car there is the emissions requirements! 1966 and newer have to pass, and sometimes it's really difficult to get your 68 or 69 through. I had a 69 Corona and a 68 VW Fastback and had many issues with both passing emissions. Of course, Chicago has the exact same annoying standards. My next car (a Hako) will be registered in Indiana to skip the hassle. But I do miss Phoenix and California! The southwest is a great place to live, as long as the heat doesn't bother you.

Dont like any of those places lol. Lived in San Antonio, TX for a decade and hated it. Too much humidity.

I say try and pick Utah!!! We need more tins here lol, and the winter is a great time to take the car down for work.

Good luck with wherever you need to move.

I would vote Tucson or Phoenix but that's just because it's an easier roadtrip to LA for MSAs West Coast Nats and the JCCS meet at Long Beach every year. No humidity, no rust, mountains around Tucson are nice but it gets dry heat hot in the summer, like Al Udeid in the Spring.
