I owned a mitsubishi galant GLS 2.0 (wagon) which has reached age of 17 years..FYI I always leave my car since working outside of my country. Last month, I was backed home and as my foreman to start my Galant. He managed to do it and after a while the timing belt was broken and jammed the engine. He said it is hard to safe it. Sample

From that point I am starting to do my research.

From what I know, the my galant has his big brother called Legnum (in the UK) which came with twin turbo 2.5 engine and 4WD. the body frame is almost identical , I am not sure about its mounting for their engine. This is my first option. But I found out it is quite hard to find the engine in the country.

From there, I am thinking to go for 4g63 engine i.e evolution . Does anyone he got this experience or knowlwedge about this swap? are they 100% identical in their mounting?

Or any suggestion for me?

Hello! I remember from my Mitubishi days that the galant came with a 4g64 which is the single cam "big brother" to the 4g63 in the Evolution and the mounting points should be the same if not very close. A swap should be easy for you and the Evo I-VI models are easy to find these days. Find a good Evo forum for advise...

It would help others if you post a pic of your car because I have played with the older E39A chassis mitsubishi galant vr4 and i know the 4g63 turbo engine are split between the 1 GEN and 2 GEN, 91-94 and 95-99.

EVO 4g63 is split in the EVO I-III are the early "6 bolt" 4g63 turbo and the EVO IV-IX are the "7 bolt" variety and they mount differently from each other.

From investigation you can use the 1 GEN "6 bolt" 4g63 engine from the EVO I-III or 88-94 galant vr4 engine, should be a bolt in as the orientation is the same as your engine

hyundai sonata and elantras are another option but they didnt make any 4g63 turbo engines but they can be used for others parts like motor mounts and engine parts to hel you in your swap

All Evos 1-9 are 7 bolts (this is why stateside, the Evo1-3 motor is a direct bolt in for 2g DSMs), the 87-92 GVR4s were 6 bolts and only VR4 generation with the 4g63t, all other generation VR4s were V6 twin turbos.
