Hey guys,

Garage Zero and a lot of local Georgia natives are going to make the cross-country trek to the west coast for JCCS.

It was in the baby stages. Now, it's gonna go down either way. We are hoping to meet up with other old schoolers along the way. It'd be great to have some known places for pit stops, local shops, etc. It would be an act of God if no ones' car broke down. I'll leave it at that.

I am going to update and add more info, shortly.

The I-40 route is what we're planning on taking. We are marking down KOA camp sites along the route and will most definitely stop at major landmarks like the Grand Canyon. I am going to add major cities that we will stop at, later on. Let us know if you are anywhere near our route and are down to meet up and kick it--pending schedule.

Pending me getting off work for the whole ordeal. I will be grabbing footage and photo along the entire way--blogging and posting it all.

We are excited and stoked about it--at the same, time not looking forward to the probable monkey wrenches along the way.

Here's the link to the thread on Import Atlanta: http://www.importatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=235403

--hoping for some locals to chime in.

Added to the blog, as well: Talks of Dirty South Old Schoolers roadtrippin’ to JCCS - Cali 10/3/09

We are down for the cause. We probably don't have anything worth the trek for the west coast on our end, but this should say something. :D

I can say this having attended the last two, if you've never been it's totally worth it. :tu:

I had enough fun driving the Arrow down to Panama City and back, I think I'm road tripped out for a while. I did get some great pics out of it.

I know our cars are old, but it's still funny/ironic that we have second thoughts about driving Japanese cars cross country.

Just remember what happened to Top Gear when they drove through Alabama :)

But seriously, this is one epic road trip. I can't wait to see the pics from it!

Thanks for the encouragement guys. So far, that I know, we won't be entering any of our cars in the show [speaking on behalf of Garage Zero]. Partly because we don't want to make any commitments 'cause we don't know how the trip will go. If we make it and there are still spots left, we'll most likely register one car--just for the heck of it. We do have other locals that have shown interest in making the trip. They may or may not enter their cars.

This year, the road trip is a pre-runner for next year's trip. We'll be better prepared and have somewhat of a feeler for what to expect along the way.

At least 2 cars we plan to drive cross country are the TE31 corolla and the L28 '83 maxima. They are as reliable as can be. Both have been driven hard and have taken the beating with pleasure.

We [Garage Zero] are really trying to make things happen for the shop. Our budget is limited but we can't deny our hearts. We are hoping for good things to become of what is ahead. :D

I'll continue to update as we get closer.

FYI, I am 99% sure you won't be able to bring your car inside if you're not registered. It will have to be left outside the park in the parking lot with all the riff-raff. :P

I think you can enter with your group and not be judged for the show, just have your group together inside. Might look into that. :tu:

Trust me, people are going to want to see the cars that got driven cross country for this. 8)

Hey guys, I wanted to update you on our status. For those of you that own a shop, you will understand. Garage Zero is having a bit of a rough time right now. People aren't as willing to spend money on their cars right now, so things are kind of slow. Some customer cars that are ready are still at the shop because they are short, as well. There are multiple factors that have played a part in our decision, so it's not geared towards one area. We have thought about it long and hard--as we should have. Next year, looks a lot more promising.

For us to make this road trip, would be unwise. I, though, am planning on flying out to take pics and grab video--to represent Garage Zero. I have never been and really want to check it out. I am really looking forward to it. I hope to meet some of you while I'm out there.

If things change, we will let you know. We want to show our support where we can, as much as we can.
