looks like it should be a good turnout guys.

april 14th sounds like a good date for another meet. depending on attendance of your small get together, we can judge how big of a venue we will need for the april event.

I'll be there on the 18th. The corolla unfortunately won't, it's sooo close too.

It looks like Ryan and I from JDML should be able to make it out tomorrow... just to confirm, it's @ 11:00 a.m. right? Not the normal cars & coffee time?

Correct, 11 am. I figured since this was a small meet and plan session, and I hate being up before 9 on the weekends lol.

LOL!!!! I can understand that. My kids are a bit older now, so I have regained some of that.

Nice pictures! I was too busy talking and catching up to even get my camera out. :)

I will compile what we talked about and post it up soon.

Finally got to see Eric's Starlet driving. Followed it for a few blocks, man that car looks like a blast to drive. Its so tiny. haha
The trip down was worth it once Ryan fired up his Skyline. Such a sweet sound.
Fun meet, cool to meet some of the folks on this forum. Seeing the old classics really made me want an AE86 even more. Can't wait for the April meet. I look forward to a ride in your AE86 Dan. ;)
Seeing those other WRX's made mine look like a 4x4. :) Anyone wanna trade a bugeye WRX for a classic? ;)

Fun meet and it's good to see everyone bring out their cars. I can't wait for spring and summer so we can have more of these.

That was a fun little meet, I can't wait to do it again when it's a bit warmer. Tentative date sounds like the 14th April right?

That seems to be the date we have settled on.

Okay, here are the basics of what was discussed on Saturday. If the breeze had not been so cold it would have been an even better little meet. Good turn out.

First off we discussed the year cut off and decided 1987 (25years) and back was considered vintage. We don't want to be exclusionary but we had to define vintage as not quite as sophisticated as the newer cars. Carbs, primitive fuel injection, less safety features etc. defines the vintage cars. If there is enough interest we can have a "future vintage" section for early '90s but it would have to remain separate.

Norcal510's suggestion of April 14th sounds good to everyone. I personally am a little worried about the weather at that time of year. Even a couple weeks later tends to be better but I am willing to take that chance for some out of state representation. We talked about starting around 2 in the afternoon and going till the evening to give plenty of time for pictures and conversation.

We would like to make this into a full on event. We would definitely have a vinyl sticker for participants. Possibly T shirts too. I have enough graphic design background left in me that I could design these. We could search out some appropriate sponsorships and have a few booths. We talked about having a Paypal account set up for donations rather than an actual registration fee.

Swap meet space was also mentioned. Everyone seems to have some parts they'd like to sell/trade.

We will be looking into parks for the venue. If anyone has ideas on this one please chime in. I want to see what it takes to actually use grass space. The worry is that even if we reserved a pavilion we couldn't get 50+ parking spaces near each other without having non show cars interspersed. Other ideas for venues will be greatly appreciated. For example, there was a VW show called 'Last Call' held at the Southtowne Volkswagen dealership last September where the dealer donated a bunch of space for the show. I know we have various makes but maybe some business with lots of space would be willing to host (and promote) the event.

JDM Legends is planning to have an open house at their new location in Murray at the end of March as well. I don't know if Eric would have enough space for 50+ cars though.

Another upcoming show was mentioned too. The UVU Auto Expo is Saturday May 19th this year at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. This is a pretty diverse show and could be a great way to show off a bunch of Nostalgics. It's $20 for the first car and $10 for additional cars. Proceeds go to their automotive scholarships. I'm planning to bring both my Nostalgics to this one.

So that's about it. We made some progress but still have a ways to go. Any input and discussion is greatly appreciated. Ready…GO!

Wish I knew of more parks in a central location. I will go to what ever park is decided upon others.

I do agree that being able to park on the grass will give it a more legit feel. Also, I thought a park was the preferred location for the people with kids?

And, would we prefer a swap meet idea where the seller just sells by thier car?

If my rolla is in better shape for the UVU, I may have to go to that.
