Turn Z, Celebrating Japanese Motoring Culture

The Z Owners of Northern California (ZONC) and Motoring J Style are thrilled to announce "Turn Z," a celebration of Datsun/Nissan Z Cars and Japanese motoring culture at large, which will take place at Infineon Raceway during the 2nd annual Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival on Saturday, June 4.

Race fans are encouraged to visit the ZONC/Motoring J Style display at Turn 7. Race fans can expect more than 50 Zs on display, as well as more than 100 Japanese classics in the area designated as "Turn Z." There will be several categories for judging, with prizes going to owners of selected cars.

Among those in attendance at the event will be sports car racing legend John Morton, competing with several cars during the weekend.

At the end of the day you can drive on the track for $15!!!
Tickets can be purchased here:

Hey this year I'll have a Datsun to show. It was a good group last year, but lets see if we can make it bigger this year.

I'd really like to see another good turnout this year. Last year was good, but short notice, lets make it bigger and better this year. The bigger the turn out the better. The vintage Japanese scene is the most underrated and to some degree most important group of cars that we don't get to see race. Imagine how history would have changed if BRE and Bob Sharp had never raced? Perhaps if enough people come and and show that they support the movement, we will be able to see more Zs, Roadsters, and 510s racing on the track.

I hope to see lots of cars at the event this year.

hey guys. so i think i want to go to this. is it cool if i bring my 73 celica ? nota z but still oldskool forsure. from what it seems like i can still register/get a ticket to be apart of it. on the site its a little confusing to which tickets i need to buy. I want my car to be at motoring j style display and drive my car on the track for 15$ at the end of the day. so doest that mean i need to purchase a 35$ jun 4th sticket and 15$ "car corral saturday " ticket as well? thanx, zulu

As far as I can tell, you need a ticket to get in, the fee for the track parade laps (might be canceled due to rain  ) and I don't know about a corral pass, I've heard different things from different people. I wasn't planning on getting one, just going over there and parking. That said I highly doubt that I will have my car there. Its looking too wet and I don't have any interest in slipping and sliding my way out there and back on race tires and a locking diff let alone having to deal with fogged up windows for the drive home (Not that its that far.)

All things considered, we had a good showing. I counted a dozen or so cars out there about 10 am, in the rain. Yeah it was wet, but we had some hard core Datsun owners who braved the elements and made it out. I have to say the weather sucked, but the photo opps were really good. The water on track made for a new element to the scene.

I was less concerned about the lack of traction than I was of fogging windows and the lack of traction on the trip home. I was pretty wet, and I know the interior of the car would have been as well. The lack of a blower fan for the windshield is the issue. I can deal with the slipping and sliding, its the slipping and sliding while trying to wipe the windshield with the other hand that makes it scary.
