Sorry, these are photo's of after the event, but are still pretty cool! Lakeside international raceway, was closed nearly a decade ago, all in the name of progress apparently!

I was lucky enough to race there in it's heyday and it's truly an excellent circuit. I raced a Gemini coupe in the Gemini series(still going to this day!) and my Rx-2 in the sports sedans series - basically still around in a different from. Due to lobbying for many years, it's been reopened to club level racing with conditions.

This event today, is a classic meet that brings out many old series, but also group A cars from the past. It's a open all areas arena so you can literally touch the history!!

Today everyone was lucky enough to see the "Godzilla GT-R" skylines from 1992 that Gentleman Jim Richards drove to victory at Bathurst and had that famous one liner to the booing crowd who were Holden/Ford fans; "you're a pack of A##Eholes" - legend effort Jim!

The man himself today Jim and the Nissan!

On the track, untouchable as always. That's Tony Longhurst's Ford Sierra in the background

Also on show, a Allan Moffatt Rx-7, this was cool! It was driven like it was stolen too!

The Peter Jackson Skyline hardtop as well!

A handful of the old Group C touring cars, still putting a respectable time around the circuit.

A few of the regular racers

A good friend owns this Rx-3 and was honoured to be put on the track with the group A cars, yes he was in the bottom half of the field but can say he raced 'Godzilla"!!

Great day wasn't it?

Man, that Starion brought back memories! Certainly was no slouch either!

These kind of events are great. Much more interesting than any of the major national series these days (not mentioning any names). That first corolla, #44...is that the one that was built by TRD in/for the UK? Any idea? I think I saw it down at Phillip Island once and it was an absolute beast, overtaking Toranas on the outside in the rain.

I've always loved the sidepipes on the skylines too!
