Sorry to hear about your misfortune. But at least it made it easier modifying your chassisrails.
I know how hard it is to find an exhaust that fits. Though I guess you could turn it sideways. Nice one on the r6 pot. I'll be looking forward to hear how it sounds!
How are the bikecarbs holding up? I reckon getting the starter fixed must have helped getting her started?
Always nice reading about this great little ride. Sure motivating to get stuck in with mine.

It was more of a case of when it was going to happen. I knew I should've replaced the engine mounts when I took the motor out the last time, but I was too anxious to get it running and back on the road, so I guess it's my own fault in the end, haha. At least it gave me the opportunity to put some time into fixing a few things like the chassis rails and tidying up the few things I mentioned before. I spent 15 minutes replacing two bushes in the lower control arms today cause I noticed the old ones were looking particularly sad. All better now though. :)

Once everything is back together, I'll go about looking into building a new exhaust for it. Very keen to see how it sounds with something a bit more free flowing.

The throttles are holding up well. I also replaced the battery lead to the starter motor as I found it was heating up and causing some of my starting issues.

Odd side question: Any idea where I can get one of those front bumpers? Just need the bottom half.

I've got a spare one sitting in the shed, but it looks pretty sad (big gashes, filler, crappy paint, etc.) and would probably not be worth shipping across the Pacific. Otherwise, you'd probably be limited to Japan or maybe some of the south-east Asian countries.

Out of curiosity though, what do you have in mind? :P

Believe it or not, it fits a Datsun 1200 perfectly.

Ha! Learn something new every day, haha. That actually looks like it might be an early model L200 bumper, which is good because they're a hell of a lot easier to find than L70/L80 bumpers. That said, the mine do have a more pronounced "chin".

Here's a link to some L200 body parts which you can see some of the variants. This particular example is what I think the one on that 1200 is.

I can have a look at postage rates across the pond if you're keen though.

I'm all about easy, but I do fancy the "chin".

Luckily I wasn't there for bad reasons. Just had to get some paperwork.

No worries, man! :D

In other news, I went and took some photos of the car without it being parked in my driveway for once, haha.

So my exhaust decided to catch on a bolt head while exiting a car park last week, which bent the hell out of most of it, so I'll be collecting some stainless pipe and bends to attempt to design and build my own headers and rebuilding the entire exhaust system.

Should be some fun times ahead.

Oooh, nice 3 into 1 collector. I've been following your Mira for a while now. Interested in seeing how this turns out!

Cheers
David

Thanks, man! I'm just waiting on getting a flange laser cut, then I can start tacking the rest together. Once it's all tacked up, I'll give it to someone a bit more competent with a TIG to finish it up properly and build the rest of the exhaust.
