This was taken last weekend at the Phillip Island Classic meeting for historic race cars.
It is the 3rd and last DR30 built by Gibson motorsport and this is its 1st race meeting after basically being on display for 20 odd years.

This is the same car getting pole position at Bathurst in 1986

He had the motor, but not the grip. Pretty hard on that old dog-leg box too! Sounded like the ingnition was breaking up at the higher rev's.

That pole video is epic! First year using tire warmers?

The popping and banging at the end of the straight was the rev limiter mostly, we couldn't get a tall enough diff in time.
The gearbox is a dog box. it uses the standard case with Hollinger gears.

The tyre warmer thing was just a psyche. They were'nt plugged in. :D

That video from 1986 shows some awesome driving. That's the true spirit of racing, using the whole car and the whole track. Beautiful. Must've felt awesome after that lap.

Memories! What a drive! I love the marshals stepping back at 0:52! I can recall the drama when the GT-R burst onto the scene in Aus in the 1980s. Talk about blind panic. A few years later I was shuttled around Calder Park with Jim Richards at the wheel of a GT-R thinking I was going to die...

Glorious stuff. Thanks! Neko.
