Introducing...the "Hakoste" the blend of Hakosuka and Stagea.

Now don't get me wrong, I usually like to see interesting blends of cars like the semi-usual S13 with S30 facelift. I commend their hard work and (sometimes)craftsmanship.

This is an interesting mixture however, my mind can't help thinking "What a waste of Hakosuka parts <_< "

I have mixed feelings on this one. One thing for sure though... the fact that Japanese old skool cars are gaining even more popularity!

What do you guys think?

I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking:

I think that is ingenuity at its best. And have to commend them about how they went about it, and how the lines just line up just right all the way around (even the taillights are lined up just right).

yah...i dont even know how the tail lights would work...because there's a separation line from the body to the hatch and the tail lights don't have that separation...

They already put THAT much work into it, they might as well have completely done away with the stock tail lights and rework it with new metal instead of (as you said) painted over the stock ones.

Seeing this strange combination of old and new made me remember this wierd blend of '49 Ford and '90 Thunderbird from the early 90's, although the wagon is not nearly as awkward. I like how they continued the Hako body lines throught the doors and rear quarters. It helps tie the two very different styles together unlike the '49/T-Bird. The sad thing is that you can actually buy a kit to create your own version of the Ford monstrosity.

YUCK!!! That Thunderbird thing is disgusting!

I think the only Stagea facelift that works is this:

only because the lines seem to work better and the two cars are, time wise, closer so it looks more natural.

I don't hate it, I'm just not wild about it. I've seen it before. It feels like after all the effort on the front end and bodysides, they just totally half-assed the rear.

The T-bird/49 was a better idea than end result, sadly. I still see them. What's WAY worse is the 2nd gen S-10/30's pickup rod kits. They just look horrendous.

Image

It's supposedly designed to look like a '39 Studebaker. Yeah, no. It's a horrible mess of '90s custom hell. This is easily the nicest one of these I've ever seen though, so I'll give it that much.[/img]

I hope this won't catch on as that means more Hakosuka parts will be wasted.. :(

Let's see more similar creations

Oh don't get me started on this :D

It looks ok from the front because the front looks just like a Hako :)
Image

But from the side, the body creases they added to try to mimic the surfline of the Hako just looks tacked on and clashes with the overall shape.
Image

Image

And as mentioned, glueing Hako tail lights and tailpanel trims over the hatch isn't so great up close.
Image

...and yes I'm a bit upset that they look like they used a pair of NOS KGC10 reversing lights on the bumper :)
