wow. gm hasn't learned anything! it's ok. most of the recent pontiacs, albeit the best yet, were made overseas anyways..

I just like the narrator's general tone. Like Veedubs, Dattos and Yotas are infiltrating America to declare Jihad on us. :lol:

Apparently imports stole so many sales that they could only afford to pay the drummer to do the soundtrack.

WOW, that was kinda weird to watch, comparing it to what it is today. GM hasn't learned anything, thats obvious. When you have to shut down or sell over half of the names under GM in recent history then something is wrong.


It is real simple, GM lost customers cause they quit making cars people really wanted or needed.

It is possible to build a good or a great product that does not become the dominant product in the market. If I had any sense, I would buy an Apple and take my PC, chain it around Bill Gates neck, and throw both off the back of a boat and he could feel what it is like to live with his product.

It is possible to totally ignore the wants and desires of the customer and build a product that does the task so above and beyond the needs of the customer that it is impractical. There are several exotic car companies doing this, several prove that financial success, or lack thereof, is independent of product quality.

But if you are a multi national corporation, throwing billions of dollars each year into research and design, with the intention of providing exactly what the market wants, you would have to be completely incompetent to fail as miserably as Ford, GM, and Chrysler.
Japanese and German car makers never had to make propaganda films to convince people that American cars were poor quality, the big three earned those reputations the hard way.

Unfair business practices are a hard sell also, given the casualties of Ford and Chevy's battle to run each other out of business in the 1950's, and selling below cost to accomplish this goal. Studebaker had a better product than both and fell to their unfair business practices.

This film also explains a lot of the hatred and resentment that we have all been on the receiving end of as import car owners. Remember the Japanese car sledge hammering events in 1985?
What's the song that says you have to teach your children to hate at an early age?
Everybody has the right to think whatever they want, but most of us aren't stupid enough to make films to promote the thoughts we are not supposed to be overly proud of.
