Anyone who has driven in the snow will appreciate these pics. This is from the first snowstorm in DC two weeks ago. I drove my 77 280Z up to Cumberland, Md. with a friend who bought a 73 240Z. When we arrived the 1-3" predicted had already fallen and was heading for 12". We left the 240Z in Cumberland and expect to tow it back to No. Va. at the end of this month.

With a full tank of gas the 280Z was able to get up and down the hills while passing several cars whose owners simply gave up. The guy parked in the center lane on I-68 in his 350Z while chatting on his cellphone was irritating. Then there was the Mercedes SLK who pulled off onto the shoulder only to get stuck. The semi getting crossed up in the lane next to the Z was also memorable--thank goodness for traction.

In any event here are the pics from the drive back to Bethesda from Cumberland. These were taken while driving on I-68 heading towards I-70:

These are at the outrageously priced Exxon off of Old Georgetown Rd. at Democracy Blvd.:

That's epic. I've done the I-68 drive many times and know it well. Props for the snow excursion. :tu: :tu:

Out of all the two wheel drive vehicles I've ever had, my old s30's were by far the best handling on ice and snow of all of them.

It was all in the name of helping a friend acquire another S30--his second 73 240Z!!

S130 is not the worst--I have driven them as much as the S30 but we all know which is more fun!

I used to drive an 86 S12 200SX coupe back in high school and it was great in the snow.

I hope you gave it a bath to wash all the road salt off after your drive.

Though I appreciate your Z getting out and being driven, it does hurt me a little bit. I have been doing the same winter driving for the last 11 winters in my '81 Datsun 810. Though I baby it and keep it clean, winter salt is deadly on this era Datsun. My car was a mint speciman 11 years ago, but the rust from winter salt has left it close to its grave. The doors are rusting from the inside-out! I just had to replace the front strut assembly because the spring perch was rusting thru on both sides!

Just a little food-for-thought from someone has "been there, done that" and now regrets it. -slim
