So my mate is working on the set of a (hollywood) movie in Melbourne, and shows me a photo he took of two ratty but straight and complete LHD 510 coupes in a melbourne warehouse. He tells me they are going to be smashed up in the movie.
After I stopped crying I asked him to speak to the crash guy and see if I can buy them after they've finished filming.
Providing they don't get completely destroyed they might be worth rebuilding.

What? Why can't they use some domestic cars to smash up instead? :(

Don't know, but there is an aston db5 in the movie as well, so a couple of vn's might look out of place.
I think its meant to be set in paris. Maybe I should get a couple of old renaults and fiats and do a swap.

No such car exists my friend!
there are no LHD 510 coupes (at least not made by Nissan/Datsun)
only RHD coupes were made from factory.

I'm sure what he means is a LHD 2-door sedan......which still!!!! dont let him crash them up! :td:

Maybe he just means the regular 2-door bodystyle 510s and not the "Coupe" coupes?

Yeah yeah, 2 door sedan. Coupe was easier to type.

So could anyone give me some guidance on what a sun damaged, dented, slightly rusty and potentially heavily smashed but complete USDM 2 door 510 sedan might be worth in australia?

I think the movie has finished filming and I'm waiting for my buddy to speak to the movie guy about buying the cars.

TBH I have no idea what they were using them for, they might have just used them to create a street scene. I think they had about 20 old cars in total. No other nostalgic J-tin though.

Dumb question- what color were the cars?

One red and one orange.
It turns out they were rented from the local owner.
At least they weren't wrecked for the movie!

They were posted here the other day, solving the mystery for me:

Speaking of 510s, there was a very nice San Francisco newspaper article about a 510 wagon reaching 500,000 miles. The owner has had it for over 30 years :D :
